Wait... I'm confused, are you putting new animations in, (or taking them out) because that would also require the xml and ai. But if you are just replacing the line that says something like "entities/units/animals/So_and_so/ animation.bf" then that would be the only thing you edit (as long as you leave the original "animname=" intact)

okay, so new prob:

i made something form the peafowl, coded it all like i normally would, except that i added scale= after each of the bfm files.

i put it in game and there was a white icon, but when you adopt it it is invisible. On the animal info panel (with thirst, happiness, biome, etc) there is nothing but put up for adoption or release to wild.

how can i fix this?

i had this problem, couldnt fix it though because my pc got wiped...but zooasaurus told me how to fix it, look in my problems thread.

In the adult xml, it will have the original code, then just replace it.
Here' s a list of the codes, an example of an animal that uses it.

XXLarge Predator-Tyrannosaurus rex

okay, thanks for all your help, but one question-
how do you make a regular animal (say a giraffe) lay eggs?

and how would make a mesh edited animal stay meshed when you zoom out?

As for the mesh, I've had the same problem, and I think you need a low folder, but it hasn't worked for me so far... :( However, the gibbon has a second model in its low folder, so there must be something to it.
As for the egg, I think if you just edit what the giraffe spawns in the ai to an egg, the egg's xml tells it what to do as in hatching etc.

well here ia theory:
Try coding the egg flies for the it,they can be found in the object find an animal that knows how to lay eggs(croc)Go to its tsk foder and go to find egg and it will shoot you to some egg codes

okay, i have been doing alot of experimental coding lately, with some success. However, i have on problem. I tried to make the squirrel into a adoptable ambient. It worked fine, except that once placed, it doesnt move. I know no one has done this before, but what file/files would i need to fix to make it move?
