No the animal doesn't really matter. Okay, right click on the NIF. Select "Open with" and then "Choose program..." Now you will see a list of Recommended and Other Programs. If WinHex doesn't show up in this list hit "Browse". Navigate to C:\Program Files\WinHex\Winhex.exe Alternatively, open up WinHex and then hit "File > Open and then navigate the NIF file you want to open |

Yes the NIF when you open it in WinHex is SUPPOSED to be numbers and letters - those are the HEX values....the stuff you have to edit in order to get your animal to work...how would you link the dds files if you couldn't see the words?? this is what it should look like |

If you read my post, and look at the image, you will see that YES it should look like that. In WinHex You need to hit "ctrl-F" and search for .dds and change it to your codename. I'm trying to help you, but you really need to read everything very carefully before you assume that you don't know what's going on. Any tutorials you have downloaded, or the stickies in this topic, are actually very beneficial if you pay close attention. It's not something you can just skim through. |

ok the thing is I want to get everything right I don't want to go back and have to change everything becase it is wrong. sorry for making it hard for you. I am on the dds files when it says: Now you have to change the name of the corresponding .DDS file to match whatever you made the line in the .nif files. do you change the name of the files or go inside and change them? |

You need to change the filename of the dds files. The dds files are your skin files. |
