Didnt really want to start my own topic until I had an animal working, but I've been told to (quite politely however :P) so I will. Basically I want to make a Painted Reed Frog. I think I've got most of the coding sorted. as for a skin I have one (taken from images, wrapped and warped in photoshop and then filled in) just have to make the dirty (EDIT: done :P) and sick. However I may need some help with getting it to appear in Africa on the zoopedia, but I'll come to that once I've got ES (last CD got broken some how, just ordered another which will come in a weeks time, hopefully less ).I also have a Whitebacked Peafowl project left over from last time I tried coding (exams got in the way <_<) which STILL doesnt work, plus needs to be updated with ES... Oh, and to re-ask my question: Why are frogs so hard, I realise they're ambients technically but is there anything else other then that that is different? |

Its realistic because most of it has been taken from artists drawings or photographs, although the area around the eye i did myself (not the eye, that was a picture :P) and I'm rather proud of that! I also didnt JUST cut and paste, I used warp and stratch/rotate/skew tools in photoshop and filled in the bits that remained. |

Looks very nice! The only things that are harder are the gift files, and the .bf files and a few other minor things. What biome are you doing it for? That can complicate some things but I think you can probably manage

I'm trying to make it wetlands from central Africa, though the coding is always what takes me time... As for my older, ongoing project, heres some skins for the male and female whitebacked peafowl: ![]() ![]() The male is the darker one, and I did these completely by myself as their ARE no pictures of these animals, they are thought to still exist but that is only based on eye-witness sightings not photographs. |

OK, I might make some stuff to go with my frog, including an info board. I think I've done the coding correct, now all I need is the image (for the board) Does anyone know what would happen if I installed my frog into a ZT2 game that doesnt have ES? Would it crash, or just not accept the frog, or allow the frog? I dont have ES (yet, coming in a few days) so its setting me back. Also, in place if ES if I dl'd the trial version, would that work? Just wondering

i read somewhere (i think it was at martin1990's site) that you can use the ES trial version when making animals. but dont take my word for it as i'm no coder |

OK, got ES now, tomorrow I should be able to test the frog skin, and therefore hopefully get some screenshots. Also, was thinking bout the frog, wondered how it was made from the ambient? And why no other ambients have been made? Anyone know? I may have a go at the squirrel if its possible...though I need to find a site that gives me the latin names for animals (group, species etc., like leo for lion, but also the pantheras as well, right back to mammalis or further if possible, only I need it for my frog and the squirrel) |

The reason no other ambients have been made is that they do not have complete .nif files. We can make xml and beh files, but we cannot make nif files. They are tied to the actual 3D animal, and cannot be created if they do not exist. So, that's why no others have been able to be 'adoptable'. See? And you can find all the latin genus/species/order/class info on Wikipedia.com |
