Not really relevant to YUI. But i thought that you guys/gals in SG might be interested that the Taiyou No Uta drama is already available in stores. A local distributor Poh Kim Video Pte. Ltd has brought in both the DVD $29.90 and VCD $16.90 version. i just bought mine. Just for info.

not a sgporean, but anyway...i watched it already.

BUT i havent been able to watch the MOVIE with YUI in it yet...i cant find the movie on sale anywhere here. Waiting for my KL fren to come back and transfer from her external hard disc to me hehe...i cant wait to watch the movie!!!

btw, just wondering...which version is nicer? my fren said that in the movie, YUI is a very much simpler girl than Erika in the drama. i saw clips of the movie, it's obvious that YUI's clothing and her house is more simple...

yeah, YUI's more of a simpler girl than erika.... XD
i think YUI's character as kaoru amane is better than erika's in Taiyou no Uta...
a simple, quiet, strong and cute sick girl.... n not forgettin a lil bad tempered... LOL
i stil prefer YUI's version in the movie compared to erika's in the drama...
even though both of them have kind of different storyline.... if u know wat i mean...

yawnz, i just finished watching taiyo no uta again, without subs.. am i overly bored?

the movie is better becos its shorter, this story is too simple and its unable to hold interest in the drama, the length of the movie is just right, too long becomes boring..

i cant wait for my fren to come back! :hug

I didn't even watch the Drama. After seeing YUI in such a perfect role, can't really picture another person playing Amane Kaoru.

Aside from that, I've Erika in 1 Litre of Tears, which her character was in a similar predicament. Along with Yamada Takayuki, again as a character in a similar role as in Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu, it just turned me off completely. Plus, Erika doesn't know how to play guitar and isn't really a singer. I've seen clips of the guitar playing and singing and I just go forget it.

That's why I didn't bother watching the Drama.

I wouldn't say the movie's length was just right, however, there wasn't enough development in the relationship between Kaoru and Kouji. To me, relationship felt like "hop (meeting at bus stop), skip (Kouji drives Kaoru to street live; Kouji likes her, Kaoru runs from Kouji), and jump (can't play guitar, recording studio, beach, flower)". I know the story is suppose to be simple. But it just didn't give Kaoru and Kouji enough of screen time as a couple that makes you feel that they really like each other and Kouji really liking her that much that he would go through all the troubles for her.

However, having said that, I did enjoy the movie and even with my criticism, I still like for what it is ... all because of YUI

I think you should know by now that this "YUI" forum is a bit biased towards this topic. :D
I'm the "mic" that YUI sings with. Her lips touches mine every time she sings.

haha i know...since this is a yui forum. my fren who watched the movie fell asleep TWICE....but i dont care how simple the movie is or um..boring? i still wanna watch it no matter what for YUI!

and yes! erika's vocal is not as strong and good. and the way she held the guitar is kinda weird. it just didnt seem right. but i would give her thumbs up for even trying to sing and play guitar.

Two versions of the story with two versions of actresses.
One who is a real actress, one who is a real singer.

so that's why i wanna see this movie badly, coz i wanna see yui sing and perform. and i prefer her songs than in the drama's.

YUI's Green Mouse >'.'<

Am I the only one who liked the drama more than the movie?! ..... :swt:

I do not agree that the movie was the "prefect" length. In my mind, it was rushed and over too soon. For a story as dynamic as the one they were trying to tell, two hours is not enough time. I agree with s0l1dsn8k3 that the movie hops and skips. I found myself scratching my head at times and, when the film was over, I felt kinda...disappointed. Perhaps it's because I watched the drama first, or maybe b/c I don't have any bias against Erika. (Hey, I just met her!) Besides, even if she can't play guitar well (or whatever) I still bought her single b/c I loved it! ^_^

Don't get me wrong- I feel YUI did a great job at her first time acting! I would was anything YUI's in even if it's bad! Taiyou no Uta film was good but, b/c it seems underdeveloped and rushed, it shies from greatness. Had I not seen the drama first, I would have felt lost at points in the film. :(

its becos their relationship was short, it felt like everything happened in 1 summer.. thats why the parting was bitter sweet, and thier love remained chaste, any longer and YUI may get pregnant already.. lol..

as in if they had loved each other for like 40 years b4 YUI died, i may not have been that sad anymore.. its this our relationship began when it ended thing that tugs at my heart string..

i respect erika as an actress, but not as a singer, erika cant sing!! it's juz that taiyou no uta song is nice, that's all.... *flee*
i may be a lil bias here, but im telling the truth....
the most important of all,
YUI COMPOSED n WROTE good-bye days herself, by bringing herself into the shoes of kaoru amane, n Good-bye days did left a big impact at the end of the movie when it started playing at the part kouji put on his headphone,
*i can feel what kouji felt when he put on the headphones**i want those headphones!!, wonder how much it cost -_-"' *
Grrrrr.....
why did Good-bye days lost to taiyou no uta in total sales n oricon ranking??
poor YUI :(
(juz my opinion, not meant to offense anyone, after all, this is a YUI fan forum)
LOLxx

PS: LOL, maybe we should change the name of the thread to *YUI vs ERIKA* :P

seriously, Goodbye Days is much much better than Taiyo no Uta...imo.

but i cant really figure out why taiyo no uta is the biggest selling single of the year last year.

that is really weird.

cause Taiyou no uta (drama ver.) was playing repeatly in every episode, so everyone familiar with that song.
that's why everyone like Taiyou no uta (drama ver.) .

If "Goodbye days" play in drama ver. , I guarantee become better selling than Taiyou no uta (drama ver.) :guitar

I agree. It seems that drama song usually gets more popular, provided that the drama itself is kinda good. So far YUI sings 2 anime songs and 1 movie song right? I hope she'll cover a 'good drama' song next.

I haven't watched the drama (it's on my com but I'm too lazy) but still I prefer Taiyou no Uta (acoustic version) over Goodbye Days.

i think they are both great songs. but i feel that the chords for goodbye days are harder to play compared to taiyou no uta haha....

For me, hard or easy doesn't mean anything. I'd take feeling over technicality any day. And besides, some songs that are simple to play are at the same time really nice as well. Smoke on the Water anyone? ;)

yep both have different feels. i agree. I prefer the feel of "taiyou no uta" compared to goodbye days though.

Umm... I watched the movie first, and watched one episode of Taiyou no Uta. I prefer the movie because YUI is in it. Yes, I am bias. YUI can play the guitar, and Erika sort of plays it, but you can tell she's just started learning it by the way she strums the acoustic. I guess it's because I play the guitar so it gets a bit distracting. But Erika seems to do a good job acting out Kaoru's character in the drama series.

Erika's Taiyou no Uta song is okay. I guess I sort of adapted to YUI's voice, so now all Asian music sound weird to me except for YUI's music. She did write and compose the songs herself, so that's gotta count for something too. LOL.

Either way, I vote for the movie version. The movie did come out before the drama right?

Go YUI go!

Go YUI go!

yeah, movie ver. came out first.
as i told before , i've seen so many kind of Japanese drama, Erika did the best in drama ver. ,i admit it especially in '1 litre of tears or Ichitoru no Namida".
btw, the part when they decided to create a band , I wonder how simple to create a good band just in few month en make a debut.

but after i watch movie version, don't know why  , i feel so much enjoy watch it , even simple but the act so naturally.
I think because the role (Amane Kaoru) accidentally similar with YUI, that's why the director choose YUI even she didn't acting before.
even "Goodbye Days lyric" inspired based on (Amane Kaoru's Diary).
so YUI create en sang that song as Kaoru Amane (point of view) not YUI (herself).
that's helped her in playing role of Amane Kaoru.
so....I objectively choose Movie ver. :)
