What was the saddest anime scene you have ever seen that made you cry or felt sad after or during the scene? Mine would be episode 24 of Chrno Crusade, where Rossete and Chrno were on the bench as they wait for death to take them. Must have been the saddest scene I have ever seen. If you want to see the scene here.

yes im still here.. havent gone inac yet!

for a guy... if u wanna make them teary eyed... u gotta really hit the pains and emotions... something like in saving private ryan or in black hawk down...

but for an anime to hit those emotions... ive only seen one really good one..

NEON GENESIS EVANGELION!

the part im talking about is the last movie...

when asuka is fighting the mass evas and she finally understands the at field and starts kicking ass...

but then the spear of longinus stabs the eva in the eye and she runs out of power and shuts down...

Then...

swoop comes the mass evas and tears apart the eva... leaving it in pieces...

as she screams and cries in pain... trying every last energy to not lose hope...asuka raises her hand..and the evas hand starts moving and reaching into the air.. even without power....

as the hand slowly rises....the feeling of hope returns again...

but...

the mass evas fire their spear things splits her hand in half..and finishes her off

whew... what an emotional ride...

this is the best video i can find of it..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP4iZ6YF9ck

now.. it has a lot of spoilers.. but.. ^_^ who hasnt seen evangelion?!

for those who havent seen it.. u must watch it!

Ooo btw the video is very graphic.. so if ur weak in the stomach... i wouldnt suggest watching it...

hmm... i'd like to mention tsubasa chronicles... especially ep 20... the scene where sakura sings about her memories... not exactly really sad unless you knew the entire story... but it's really touching... and it's a beautiful song too....

well, it's kinda rare that a character would break into a song halfway through the anime... kinda like a play or musical... so thats what makes it even better....

here...scene where she sings....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJD1l8wEkZQ

if anything else... just give it a watch for the song... you won't regret it....

oh yes, that was a scene I'll never forget. Almost seem like I wanted to shout out to the mass evas to stop what they were doing.

hmm saddest anime scene?
To me, I think it's gotta be the REFLECTION OVA of Rurouni Kenshin (my fav anime of all time).

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
At the last part, Kenshin finally returns home to Kaoru and dies peacefully in her arms. The cross-scar, a symbol of his haunting memories that plagued his whole life, disappeared forever. Though it was a touching scene, but it was a sad one for me also.

That's true, that scene really hit me hard. I couldn't say a word, I was so in shock.

The saddest anime is "Grave of the fireflies" imo. It's a pretty old anime about two siblings who get separated from their mom in Japan during WWII. The boy is about 16 and his younger sister is about 7 or 8. At first, he hides the fact, that their mom's long dead, from her, because he just doesn't know how to tell her. The saddest scene was, when she tells him, that she already knows about that. I was so about to cry, but in the end I didn't.

Thats was the 1st Eva scene i saw.
Which make me wan to watch the whole anime to find out wherethe Asuka survive after the attack.
The bird-like evas was really disgusting.
Was really impress by Asuka on how she beat the other evas before they tear her apart.

I think the scene on FMA abt the chimera is also very sad.

I do feel alot on the ep where the bros return back to their village to repair the automail.
Where they show that they burnt down their house b4 they set off an d that Winey shine the lamp to signal the bros to come home, like how their mum always did.Telling to bros that they have a home to return to. :huhuhu

Yeah I saw that movie, and I thought it was really sad how things went for the worst. It was a really sad movie, though it's old it does bring history back to life in a sense of animation form.

I also watched the whole FMA series, and that chimera part was sad, but I thought the saddest part was hughes scene, where he was killed, because the homonculus transform to take the form of his wife.

Whoa, yeah. He was like the coolest minor character in FMA and he died, because he's just a bit more intelligent than others, who had no clue of what was going on.

"Elfen Lied" was pretty sad, too. I can't name a specific scene, but the whole anime has this depressing theme of hopelessness. The same goes for "Gunslinger Girls".

Hmm...Im not sure if Taiki is reffering to the same anime, but it was called Joy Geen Ying For Chung in Cantonese which means Goodbye to the fireflies. Im guessing that its the same one. I watched it years ago, I was about 5 or 6 at the time. Didn't understand it at the time but now that I think back on it, I think I can remember what happened....sad movie.....=(
Actually, when you think about it, theres a lot of sad animes out there, Gundam Seed Destiny was pretty depressing to watch if you saw more than 6 episodes a day....a main character would die every other episode or so....FMA was also pretty sad...what happened to Nina and her dog....well, I wont say anything else just incase I spoil it for others.

Wow you guys covered some anime/s(whichever one u prefer) that I also think is sad... ummm there was one anime it's quite old "Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien" it's very sad, the anime is about a guy who likes a girl, but the girl's friend likes the guy (sorry with the guys and girls here I can't remember the name so well go with guy=a girl=b girl's friend=c) a likes b, b has a friend c who likes a, of course a doesn't want to love c since he love b, but a decides to start to like c who ends up in an accident that puts her into a coma for 3-4yrs. It's really hard to explain the sadness part cause if you watch it yourself, you have feelings for the character and that everything becomes sad....

Does any of you read manga? If you do you should try and read Ichigo100%, I'm really attracted to the whole shounen type, esp. the harem types :P but getting near the middle and end of the book it becomes really sad with the rejections. For me the ending tore my feelings... I was quite sad for days, but that's not the case for some people....

Another manga is called Ai Ren it's really sad, as the main character is already dying in such a young age.... for manga lovers they should read this esp. those who likes sad stories....

ummm i think I'm supposed to be talking about anime, but instead it seems i'm talking to much on manga.... If it's not ok to you guys I'll start a thread on it, anyway Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is sad, for those who likes sad stories of love then this is a must see :huhuhu

Noway, the scene where Kenshin accidentally cuts Tomoe was much more sad.

damn

Krillin's first death in Dragon Ball is extremely sad...the way Goku keeps feeling something's wrong(he doesn't even eat when everyone's eating) and when he goes back and finds Krillin dead makes it all that more heart-breaking

Any other death after this in Dragon Ball was just a joke though...cuz they would always get revived with the Dragon Balls...though I guess we could say the same with Krillin but I guess the reason Krillin's First Death is so sad is cuz it was the first death in the series and the way it was executed it was just shocking
I mean for 1 minute they finished the Tenkaichi Budokai Tournament(where Goku reached the final but lost to Tenshinhan) then Master Roshi says he's gonna treat them to lunch...Goku realizes he forgot his Power Pole and some other stuff at the Tournament...Krillin says "Don't worry Goku I'll go get them for you" they smile...Krillin goes then gets killed by one of Piccolo Daimao's Subordinates...Goku feels something's wrong and then shit happens...I can't even explain it with my own words so I'll just post a video...though this scene is more sad when you see the episodes that preceded it cuz Krillin's Death is so unexpected and literally comes out of nowhere
It always gives me goosebumps all over my body when I watch this scene after all those years...whoever directed this episode was just a genius in getting the emotion through to us

Well I used to cry a little in nearly every anime I have ever seen LOL,which r a few anyway
But most notably:
In the last few epis of FMA
in some bleach scenes(mostly because I thought the story was being stretched like a rubber band)
In ruruoni Kenshin
in Code geass during the end when his sister realizes the true purpose behind lelouch's action
An in Deathnote when L died
Freedom!!I at last removed that irritating siggy blocking have of my posts YIPPEEE!!

damn

The only thing that was sad about Bleach was...how bad it became after the "Save Rukia Arc"
God fucking dammit...I cannot believe I actually stuck through that shit till like 300+ episodes...even watched the Ichigo beating Aizen ending in the Manga...God it was crap
And I can't believe it's still ongoing

Manga's get so milked nowadays it's ridiculous....and I thought Dragonball was milked ffs the 3 main shonen jump manga(which all suck) have been running for decades now...good fucking lord
Mangakas nowadays are the worst

Oh yeah...and Death Note's Second Season sucked
It was pointless...might of as well have been a better ending if Light was captured by his own father after he killed L...I mean wouldn't that ending have been much more f-king awesome? Rather than 2 stupid kids catching Light it would have been his father and his father would have to turn his son in then Ryuk would kill him as soon as the Midnight struck and then Soichiro would have found him dead the next morning...that ending would have been crazy
Shit...even I came up with a better ending to Death Note <_<

Oh BTW Rolling Rain if you enjoyed Death Note I recommend you watch Monster cuz that's even better(it doesn't have an awful second arc at least) in Japanese(w/eng subs)
Just search for a torrent in BakaBT :hee

It's "Monster" and I definitely recommend avoiding any kind of spoilers before watching it
I didn't mind Mello that much tbh...at least he was on the move and he did something...he even died at the hands of Light to obtain evidence...the one who I really hated was Near...all he did was sit around, play with toys and have his henchmen do all the dirty work for him and then at the end he took all the glory
**** that shit...L was infinitely cooler...L came out in Public and got his hands messy when it was necessary
And I hate how at the start of the 2nd arc Light is at a major disadvantage...it feels like the Author was told to extend the Manga and he only wanted to get it done already...the 2nd arc just brings down the show for quite a bit...it feels like it shouldn't be there
That's why Monster is a lot better...well one of the reasons at least

Anyways just finished Cowboy Bebop the last few days(still have yet to watch the movie) my fucking god that show is beyond awesomeness...I can't even call it "Anime" cuz it's too much of a good show to associate it with most of the awful anime out there...it's on a league in it's own
But even then it doesn't feel at all like an "Anime" it feels more like a Sci-Fi Drama Action Series which just happens to be animated

Unfortunately because Animation for some stupid reason always is considered for kids by most people many will miss out on such a classic show :(..and that's sad cuz a show like that really deserves to be popular outside the anime fanbase :/ cuz it's just too good

Was it so?I heard (rumours )that he didnot want Light to die in the end,but was pressurized to kill him off

I am sick of the new animes .They completely suck...(where are the FMAs?)The only thing I am watching right now is a stupid american series which should be banned.........

Nah...it's just most people thought that half-way it felt like Death Note had a Natural End
The Author claims that he planned to do 108 chapters from the start on the other hand so I dunno...but that 2nd half always felt very tacked on to me if you know what I mean

I have never watched FMA and will probably never watch it...just looking at Ed Elric I always get Naruto vibes and I'm like "Nah this can't possibly be good" so yeah
Which American Series are you talking about? Cuz I know one that needs to end already...in fact should have ended when it was still good in the late 90s coughTheSimpsonscough

You never watched FMA! Dude its considered one of the greatest animes, I really recommend that you watch it, dont judge it so fast, its nothing like Naruto.

the point on Naruto, it was actually good in the first series, in faxt on of the scenes that made me nearly cry was the fight with zabuza. but yeah shipuudden got dragged out.

Since many scenes here are taken, ill say some scenes from samurai champloo are sad, really recomend you watch that it by the creators of cowboy bebop, its all on youtube in HD with actually a good dub. http://m.youtube.com/?#/playlist?list=PL3BCB04451E55C3E3

Meh...I really don't see anything appealing on FMA
Many people also consider Gurren Laggan to be a great anime but I thought it was a piece of crap

Naruto was never that good...I used to watch it cuz when I was a kid I just wanted some Action Cartoons and Naruto was my quick fix...then I continued to follow it for quite a while since I like to finish shows I start but I dropped it eventually cuz it didn't seem like it would ever end(still hasn't ended)

Cowboy Bebop is the best Anime I've watched...my favorite is still the original Dragonball(partly cuz of Nostalgia) but Cowboy Bebop is something else
It's also the only time when a English Dub is superior to the Original Japanese Version

Oh I know of Samurai Champloo...not particularly drawn to it...the Production Values don't look anywhere near as good as Cowboy Bebop(SC looks more like the typical low budget Anime when it comes to the Animation compared to Bebop) and I'm not a fan of Hip Hop Music/Culture so the Music/Aesthetics already put me off...might watch it down the road anyways to see if I like it...thanks for the recommendations anyway

Now here's my recommendation
"Monster"(and try to avoid spoilers before watching)
Watch this in Japanese...the cast is too good...I've heard some of the English Dub voices and they didn't sound as good

Many Anime/Manga are popular but that doesn't mean they're good
The Current Big 3(Naruto,One Piece and Bleach) for example suck
FMA like most Shonen is popular cuz it's easily marketable...fighting/action Anime have always been successful...cuz let's be honest...we're suckers for that kind of stuff...especially when we were kids :P

Anime/Manga like Monster for example on the other hand haven't had such luck...it's a shame too since Monster is much better than stuff like Death Note or Code Geass
