I just saw it, what a beautiful movie. I really didn't expect it to be this good, and it ended so sad. :(

I really don't know what else to write without sounding corny. :swt But I love Yui's music even more now.

but the scene that really cracked me up the Kaoru first meeting w/ Kouji...I *heart* "My favourite food is bananas", lol.

 i really liked this scene "I' Amane Kaoru. I don't have a boyfriend. My favorite animal is Cheetah. And for food, I like bananas" and Kouji was like "huh?" "what about it?" "huh?"  :wakaka

I really, really loved this movie for a thousand different reasons. I cried so much at the end, from the part where she was on the beach to the very end when good-bye days was playing on the radio. It was just a very emotional movie for me, especially since there were some tough parallels to my own life. Nothing XP related, thank goodness. When it was over and I was crying my eyes out, I felt like I never wanted to see it again even though I really did love it. A day or two later, I found the DVD on cdjapan for preorder and begged my mother to let me buy it, so I guess my decision to never watch it pretty much went out the window . . . If I just skip the last eleven minutes, I should be okay, right? lol. Yeah, but . . . it was very uplifting, even though it was very bittersweet.

I give it a 9/10.

I also didn't find it to drag on at all, but I also never get bored by anything. So my opinion might be kind of biast . . . Either way, YUI did a fantastic job and I wish her the best of luck in the future.

Suddenly I wonder, what is the translation of the word "Taiyou no Uta"?

Using translate.google.com, it will become 'The of [taiyou] it is'. Weird..

Is it "A song to the sun"?

Hmm..Hope somebody can correct me.

:D

This idea came after my tenth watch of Taiyou no Uta. The place looks lovely and peace attracted me to look for using Google Earth(GE). Well, I asked about Taiyou no Uta location in this forum and thanks to blue_cat who gave the answer.

It is said that Kamakura is near Tokyo so with GE, I pointed on to Tokyo and saw Kamakura name and zoom to it. It's quite hard to find the exact place but not long after, with some hint (surrounded by hills, the curvy train track, seaside) I found the location! :D I am so happy.

Hope anyone who can find time walking around in Kamakura, take some picture and share with us! :)

I really love Tayiou no Uta, but watching it more than once is a bit hard for me because of the ending. Everytime I start to watch the movie, I have to think about the way the movie ends. It's not like it's the fault of the movie, it's because the end's just too sad. T_T

Just a random question. Why is "Taiyou" on the movie posters written in Katakana, while "No Uta" is in Hiragana?

I'm always up for an excursion half way round the world :P

My thoughts on the Film: I have to say that i loved this film and honestly couldn't pick out a favourite scene.

The one thing that sticks in my mind is how sorry I feel for her dad! Not because his daughter has died, but rather that she never let him watch her sing, the first time he heard her was after she had died :(

It sure was painful seeing her die.
I agree with you, her died really wanted to hear her sing.
But I thought it was kinda cute when seeing all of the characters hear her song on the radio. =]

They didn't show her actually die, suddenly she was lying in an open coffin full of sunflowers, so didn't make me really sad, but then when everyone listened to her song in the radio, I actually realized that she is dead. She'll never come back again and all you have left is her song. This last scene was really sad, it's one of the best scenes in the movie.

erm when someone lies in a coffin, its pretty obvious that he/she has passed away. the scene took me by shock when i saw her in the coffin actually, and the part when everyone was listening to her song adds even more melancholy into the film...

Of course I know that she died. What I meant is that they didn't show her last moments, her last breath and her last words. She was just saying that she will live on til she dies and the next moment she's already lying in a coffin. At that moment, you know she died, but you refuse to accept it, coz it was so sudden. That's what I meant.
