FLOW

One of the bands attracting the most attention in today’s music scene is FLOW, a five-piece rock act made up of two MCs, a drummer, a bassist and a guitarist. The group can trace their activities back to 1993 when brothers KOHSHI (elder, vocals.) and TAKE (younger, guitar.) began playing together. They formed FLOW in 1998, and were eventually joined by KEIGO (vocals), GOT’S (bass) and IWASAKI (drums).
A big moment for the band came when they opened at Tug Of Rock’n Roll, an outdoor festival that was held in Okinawa in August 2002. FLOW’s creative instrumentation, and the dynamic of the two vocalists singing alternately and then together made them an instant audience favorite. Their limited-edition single quickly sold out, and the success continued as they released two mini-albums within the same year, both of which took nationwide indie charts by storm.

“Okuru Kotoba”, their first cover single, sold over 270,000 copies when released in January 2003. It reigned atop the Oricon indie chart for seven consecutive weeks and also hit an impressive #6 on the overall singles chart. In the spring of that year, their first full-scale album “SPLASH!!!” that compiled re-recorded songs from their indie era and new songs, was released by Ki/oon Records, debuting at #2. A string of smash singles and a 2nd album followed. Several of the band’s songs have also been used in conjunction with anime series, including the track “GO!!!” which was chosen as theme song for “NARUTO”, and the track “DAYS” which was featured in “Eureka Seven”, and also the single "Re:member", that was lately featured as the new "NARUTO" opening theme.
FLOW have, currently, 3 albums.
-1 "SPLASH"
-2 "Game"
-3 "Golden Coast"

I truly reccomend the listening of their songs.
My personal Favorites are "Sono Sakani Wa..." from their second album, "Game".
and the "Eureka Seven's" first opening theme, track number 4 in the third album "Golden Coast", "DAYS".

Hopefully, they'll start becoming more popular (esp. since they've released some pretty good songs). :D

But they haven't really garnered to much attention in the past few years. A lot of people compared them to ORANGE RANGE, which IMO isn't a good comparison cuz both of their styles are actually a bit different. It's true that I'm biased cuz I'm a huge fan of ORANGE RANGE (and to be honest, I do prefer them over FLOW), but my bias doesn't go as far comparing both bands (cuz they are just that different). ;)

If there IS a battle between ORANGE RANGE and FLOW (which I know there really isn't, but if there IS or WAS), it's obvious that ORANGE RANGE won (esp. since they are one of the most popular and successful bands in Japan currently). BUT, that should not belittle, hinder, and intimidate FLOW from trying harder and continuing to put out good music. :)

I'm not comparing anything. nor do I catagorize the music I listen too.
If I like itm then I'll listen to it.
I like FLOW's music, so I'll listen to it.
this thread was to recommend FLOw to other people, not compareing it to other JPop/JRock groups...

I have yet to see any of their PVs....And I've only heard GO, Re:member, and Rising Dragon. They're all GREAT...I'm trying to listen to more of their music 'cause their songs are just awesome

After reading Neko-kun's post, I'm gonna have to say I like FLOW over Orange Range only 'cause of my personal taste..XD

YUI_FanBoy: I understand what you're saying, but this is still a discussion thread. Neko-kun was just pointing that out to begin a discussion :)
