I assume your trying to convert those large 320 KBPS files into 192 or 128 ones. One way to do it is install a music editor. You know those programs where you can edit / add effects. Once you export the file, the bit rate can be set, so you can make it as small as you want. While it still being in mp3 format. |

A word of warning (from one who has tried this many times) It's not a good idea if you're concerned with quality. You'll lose easily 40% from compression and 5-10% from encoding, which leaves you with a somewhat staticy result (to really HEAR the static clearly, you'll need some choice audio testing programs...I don't have any with me at the moment, but I'll let you know if I find them...) Another artifact of re-encoding mp3's is often a popping tendency whenever there is a heavy bass line. I have heard this many times (actually, one especially well-timed pop blew a sub-woofer a few years ago). You might want to just backup the mp3's on a bunch of data CD's or DVD's before doing this... Other than that, they've given fairly good suggestions on how to do it. You might want to look for wav editors, as they'll give you the best shot at getting it back up to par...Also, check for any wav recovery programs (they may be able to help recover some of the quality loss from the first encode) -MOD EDIT- Oops...Forgot to move this...Oh well... \\Topic Moved To Random Chat |
