Very bad, its very bad...... England vs Paraguay 1 - 0 Goals: 4. GAMARRA Carlos (3' OG)(ENG) Summary: England got their FIFA World Cup™ campaign off to a winning start in Frankfurt with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Paraguay on Saturday, 11 June 2006. However, they did not have their own way against the South Americans, who gave Sven-Goran Eriksson’s men some nervous moments during the 90 minutes. The only goal of the game came in the third minute when David Beckham’s free-kick skimmed off the head of Carlos Gamarra and into the net. Paraguay pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but despite their best efforts, a goal was not forthcoming and most now turn their attentions to their next Group B game against Sweden in Berlin next Thursday. Trinidad and Tobago vs Sweden 0-0 Summary: An amazing match in Dortmund saw FIFA World Cup™ debutants Trinidad and Tobago hold Sweden to a goalless draw on Saturday, 10 June 2006. An injury to the Soca Warriors' first-choice goalkeeper Kelvin Jack shortly before kick-off gave West Ham United's Shaka Hislop a chance to shine on the world's biggest stage. Hislop did that - and more - as the 37-year-old pulled off a string of superb saves to deny Ibrahimovic, Larsson and Co. The final scoreline was made all the more incredible as Trinidad and Tobago, ranked 47th in the world, compared to Sweden's 16, had Avery John sent-off in the 46th minute for two bookable offences. At full-time, the Caribbean side's players and supporters danced for joy, while Lars Lagerback's men slumped to the turf in disappointment. The match may not have produced any goals, but the drama was there for all to see. Argentina vs Ivory Coast 2 - 1 Goals: 9. CRESPO Hernan (24')(ARG) 7. SAVIOLA Javier (38')(ARG) 11. DROGBA Didier (82')(CIV) Summary: In a highly entertaining Group C game in Hamburg, two first half goals from Hernan Crespo and Javier Saviola helped Argentina to a 2-1 win over Côte d'Ivoire in Hamburg on Saturday, 10 June 2006. The Albiceleste took the lead in the 24th minute when Crespo scored a classic poacher’s goal. Henri Michel’s side failed to deal with a Juan Roman Riquelme free-kick and the Chelsea striker was on hand to turn the loose ball home. Argentina doubled their advantage fourteen minutes later when Riquelme picked out Saviola with a great pass and the striker produced a beautiful finish to steer the ball past Jean-Jacques Tizie. Didier Drogba, Crespo’s team-mate at Chelsea, gave the Ivorians hope with a goal eight minutes from time, but the South Americans hung on to secure the three points. credit: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/ |

The Argentina - Cote d'ivoire match was a mouth watering one. Very neat and tidy one touch passes from the argentines and the ivorians exploited with the pace. And of cos very disapointed with group b's results. I can't wait to see Franck Ribery play for France. |

Japan had a good lead until Australia blew it. Disappointing match for me, as I was hoping Japan to win it, really. It's going to be a lot harder starting from now, winning against Croatia and especially Brazil is probably asking too much. And props to Ghana, got to respect them for giving Italy a hard time. Anyone else rooting for Korea Republic? XD |

Very disappointing that Japan had to lost when the game is almost finished. 3 points turned out to be 0. I just hope Brazil smash Croatia and then Japan beat Croatia and hold Brazil to a draw, so there still be a chance for Japan to go higher than just a qualifying group. Hope Brazil and Croatia beat Australy. As for the full updates of World Cup 2006: Australy vs Japan 3 - 1 Goals: 10. NAKAMURA Shunsuke (26')(JPN) 4. CAHILL Tim (84')(AUS) 4. CAHILL Tim (89')(AUS) 15. ALOISI John (92+')(AUS) Summary: Substitute Tim Cahill was the hero for Australia as the Socceroos scored three times in eight minutes to beat Japan 3-1 in Kaiserslautern and record both their first goals and their first ever win in FIFA World Cup™ finals history on Monday, 12 June 2006. Trailing at half-time to Shunsuke Nakamura's 26th-minute goal, the opening Group F match turned on its head with the arrival of Cahill. He equalised with a close-range strike in the 84th minute and then fired a spectacular second in the 89th before striker John Aloisi put the icing on the cake two minutes into added time. Italy vs Ghana 2 - 0 Goals: 21. PIRLO Andrea (40') 15. IAQUINTA Vincenzo (83') Summary: Italy defeated African first-timers Ghana 2-0 in an exciting Group E fixture in Hanover on Monday, 12 June 2006. A Ghana team making their FIFA World Cup™ debut contributed richly to the spectacle but Italy's greater know-how told as they won through goals from Andrea Pirlo and substitute Vincenzo Iaquinta. After both sides had missed a succession of chances, Pirlo broke the deadlock with a shot through a crowded penalty area after 40 minutes. Iaquinta sealed the win after latching onto Samuel Kuffour's underhit back-pass with seven minutes remaining. USA vs Czech Republic 0 - 3 Goals: 9. KOLLER Jan (5') 10. ROSICKY Tomas (36') 10. ROSICKY Tomas (76') Summary: The Czech Republic started their Germany 2006 campaign in style with a 3-0 win over the USA in Gelsenkirchen on Monday, 12 June 2006. Jan Koller gave the Czechs a dream start in the opening match in Group E by heading them in front after five minutes and Tomas Rosicky doubled their advantage with a superb swerving strike in nine minutes before the break. Despite the setback of losing Koller to a hamstring injury, Karel Bruckner's men retained their grip on the game and Rosicky sealed the three points with his second goal on 76 minutes. |

What a boring game when France met Switzerland. Zidane played well, but his team mates suck. Even Henry is dull! They did a great ball possesion at the first half and managed to press Suisse defense line. BUT Suisse counter sometimes was deadly, too bad they were unlucky with their bad finishing. Applaud for Suisse's young squad, they equaled France. Seems like France will not score even a goal like they did in World Cup 2002. Great things from Korean team that they managed to secure victory on the 2nd half. They played very bad at the 1st half. They did have more ball possesion, but Togo counter attack was very dangerous. I was curious when I heard there was Adebayor in Togo. He is a talented young player in Arsenal. BUT Kader was the one who got the goal. At the 2nd half, Kader was locked by Korean defense line and did nothing while Adebayor was trapped offside too many times. The 2nd halh is the best performance for the south Korean. Their spirit rose up and with Ahn Jung Hwan entered the game, they were attacking aggresively. 2 goals from Lee Chun Soo and Ahn Junga Hwan are enough to secure 3 points, however if only they did play better from the 1st half, they may score more goals. Right now Spain got 4 goals! What a goal from Fernando Torres, great passing to passing and a goal! More updates from: Korea Republic vs Togo 2 - 1 Goals: 17. MOHAMED KADER (31')(TOG) 14. LEE Chun Soo (54')(KOR) 9. AHN Jung Hwan (72')(KOR) Summary: Ahn Jung-Hwan turned back the clock four years with a spectacular winning goal as Korea Republic came from behind for a 2-1 victory over ten-man Togo in their opening Group G match in Frankfurt on Tuesday, 13 June 2006. Surprise semi-finalists in 2002, the South Koreans looked like they might suffer a taste of their own medicine when Togo, on their FIFA World Cup debut, took a 31st-minute lead through Mohamed Kader. But after Jean-Paul Abalo's 53rd-minute dismissal, Lee Chun-Soo swept home the ensuing free-kick 60 seconds later before Ahn revived memories of his extra-time winner against Italy in 2002 with Korea Republic's second goal 18 minutes from time. France vs Switzerland 0 - 0 Summary: There was once again no separating France and Switzerland as they played out a goalless draw in their opening 2006 FIFA World Cup™ match in Stuttgart on Tuesday, 13 June 2006. The Group G rivals drew both their meetings in the European qualifying round and recent history repeated itself here in a match of few clear-cut scoring opportunities. The closest either side came was when Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta's free-kick bounced back off a post and Alexander Frei failed to convert the rebound. The Stuttgart stalemate leaves the European neighbours two points beneath the early group leaders Korea Republic, 2-1 winners over Togo earlier in the day. It also leaves France without a FIFA World Cup goal in the four finals matches they have contested since winning the Trophy in 1998. Brazil vs Croatia 1 - 0 Goals: 8. KAKA (44') Summary: Brazil defeated European challengers Croatia 1-0 in an enthralling Group F encounter in Berlin on Tuesday, 13 June 2006. The current holders of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy and their legions of colourful fans provided entertainment both on and off the pitch but they were made to work hard for their victory by a well-organised Croatia side. After both sides enjoyed a series of half-chances, the goal which proved to be decisive was of the highest order. A minute before the interval, AC Milan midfielder Kaka curled a left-footed shot past Stipe Pletikosa and into the top left-hand corner of the net. The win gave Brazil their eighth consecutive success in FIFA World Cup™ matches, a new record, and how fitting that it was delivered by the wearer of the Seleção's No.8 shirt. As for today: Spain vs Ukraine 4 - 0 Tunisia vs Arab Saudi Germany vs Poland Credit: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/ |

Spain vs Ukraine 4 - 0 Goals: 14. XABI ALONSO (13') 21. VILLA David (17') 21. VILLA David (48' PEN) 9. TORRES Fernando (81') Summary: Spain made a dream start to their 2006 FIFA World Cup™ campaign with a 4-0 victory over Group H rivals Ukraine in Leipzig on Wednesday, 14 June 2006. Having waited as long as any team to get their campaign under way, Spain raced out of the starting blocks and were two goals in front inside 17 minutes as Xabi Alonso headed a 13th-minute opener before David Villa doubled the advantage. If Ukraine thought things could not get any worse they were wrong as they lost Vladyslav Vashchuk to a red card just two minutes into the second half after conceding a penalty for a challenge on Fernando Torres. Villa tucked away the spot-kick and Torres completed the scoring with a spectacular half-volley with nine minutes remaining. Tunisia vs Arab Saudi 2 - 2 Goals: 20. AL KAHTANI Yasser (57') 5. JAZIRI Zied (23') 9. AL JABER Sami (84') 15. JAIDI Radhi (92+') Summary: An injury-time header from Radhi Jaidi rescued a point for Tunisia as they drew 2-2 with Group H rivals Saudi Arabia in Munich on Wednesday, 14 June 2006. Jaidi struck two minutes into added time just as Saudi Arabia were contemplating a fine comeback victory. Trailing to Zied Jaziri's 23rd-minute goal, the Saudis drew level through Yasser Al Kahtani's fine near-post finish in the 57th minute and then thought they had taken all three points with substitute Sami Al Jaber completed a sweeping move with a cool finish six minutes from time. Germany vs Poland 1 - 0 Goals: 10. NEUVILLE Oliver (91+') Summary: A last-gasp goal from substitute Oliver Neuville gave Germany their second successive Group A victory against Poland in Dortmund on Wednesday, 14 June 2006. Germany, who had been frustrated for the vast majority of the match through a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Artur Boruc, were grateful when the Borussia Monchengladbach man side-footed home in the first minute of added time. The result does not guarantee the hosts qualification for the Round of 16, but it leaves them with one foot in the knockout stages. As for today: Ecuador vs Costa Rica England vs Trinidad-Tobago Sweden vs Paraguay Go eEngland! Don't disappoint us anymore! |

Ok, its quite disappointed for England in 82 mins game on. Too many unexpected finishing as for Crouch, Owen and Lampard keep failing to score a goal. England midfielders did a great job by supplying the frontline with many balls, but Owen and Crouch are such a BOOOOO...!! Big applaud for David Beckham! Owen = Booooooooooo.....!! England for 83 mins = BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....!!!!!!! England for 84+ mins = SUPERB!! Good things Sven Goran Eriksson took out Owen and replaced him with Rooney, Lennon and Downing. Those young guns did well reviving England team and hasten their attacking phase. Beckham's cross + Crouch tall header = GOAL! I'll make a special report on England since they are my fav team and have won 2 - 0 :) GROUP B Match 19 15 June 2006 Venue: Franken-Stadion Referee: KAMIKAWA Toru Temperature: 26°C 79°F Conditions: Cloudy ENGLAND vs Trinidad Tobago 2 - 0 Goals: 21. CROUCH Peter (83') 4. GERRARD Steven (91+') Posted Image Crouch celebrating goal with Downing and Rooney Posted Image Crouch after scoring a goal Posted Image Terry cleared the ball from goal after Ferdinand almost own goal Summary by http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/: England secured their place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup™ with a 2-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago but they left it late before striking through Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard on Thursday, 15 June 2006. Crouch broke the deadlock in Nuremberg with a headed goal in the 83rd minute and his Liverpool team-mate Gerrard added a superb second in the 91st minute. England, who welcomed back Wayne Rooney as a second-half substitute, have taken six points from their two Group B matches while Trinidad and Tobago remain on one point. Budweiser Man of the Match: David BECKHAM (ENG) Posted Image David Beckham was named Man of The Match David Beckham was named Budweiser Man of the Match after England’s 2-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday. The England skipper spent the entire 90 minutes serving dangerous balls into the penalty area, and it was one such cross that finally brought the breakthrough, Crouch heading past Shaka Hislop in the 83rd minute for the first goal by an England player at this FIFA World Cup™. "David Beckham is the Budweiser Man of the Match today for a number of reasons,” said FIFA Technical Study Group member Rodrigo Kenton. “At times, he dictated the pace of the game and the quality of the ball he delivered for England's first goal was superb.” Beckham, who spent part of the second half in an unfamilar right-back role, contributed with his leadership at a time when England might have let themselves get frustrated. "Being the captain of a team is a very important job and today Beckham did that superbly," said Kenton. "Things were not going well for England, but he rallied the team by the standard of his performance and by his character. He knows the rhythm of the team, he is able to manipulate it - and quite simply, he is a quality player." England would not want to face ecuador, whose defence is equivalent to an iceberg. Neither would they want to meet Germany, the unpredictable team with neuville loving to come off the bench and score last minute goals. (he scored twice in stoppage time against luxembourg last month, and one against poland). But England will meet either one of them. |

lolz... the important thing is that at least they are through... ah...but owen was... well... enough said... maybe eriksson should try crouch and walcott up front for the next match... lolz with rooney coming on at the end.... a stint on the bench should wake owen up for the round of 16.... and if walcott doesn't even get a chance to play in the group stages... i doubt eriksson would want to risk him in a do-or-die match later on.... unless he intends to just use walcott as a time waster during substituions if england are winning... |

no, i think next time, sven should start with owen and rooney. Crouch should stay a seat. Other than using his height as an advantage to win headers, he's otherwise useless, in my opinion. |

I on the other hand, would prefer to see Lennon start. He played a great game today, created a few good chances and he actually looked alive than the rest of the team. But anyway England had a close call, obviously Lampard wasn't wearing his scoring boots today, otherwise it would have been an easy match for them. They were pretty lucky not to draw. I give full credits to Trinidad and Tobago for holding on to England until the last minute. ^^ |

If they play like they play their first two games, it would be difficult against Germany but also against Ecuador ^^ They didn't impressed me :P Argh Paraguay lost in the last minutes, Aldo Bobadilla did a great game like he does with the Libertad (PAR). I don't know why he wasn't the #1 behind Villar. Very lucky swedish :P :P :P Fortunately, Ibrahimovic was substituted at half-time, I really don't like this player XD |
