oooh i definately have to add some!! -Akeboshi: Really nice relaxing music, has a kind of mystical feel to it (I suggest the song Wind [as in wind-up toy, not as in a sea wind], it was the first closing song of the Naruto anime) "Wind" -Captain Straydum: really good band!! very catchy (I suggest the song "Kimitobe") "Kimitobe" -GReeeeN: new band, rap/rock, very popular right now in Japan (Their most popular song is "Ai Uta" but my favorite is High G.K. Low) "Ai Uta" "High G.K. Low" this is an AMAZING video btw. WATCH IT!!! - Sweet Callin' :VERY mellow music, almost jazzy. Beautiful vocals. I loooove the song "Little Dance" [ritoru dansu]. unfortunately i cant find a video of them online, or any online clips, and my internet wont let me go to sony music japan!! but heres the link anyway: samples - Suneohair: guitar alternative, pop/rock. pretty mellow but this guy can rock. good melodies. (I love a lot of his songs, but esp. "kanashimi no rock festival" and "headphone music") "kanashimi no rock festival" - CHARA: she has a really unique voice and her style varies greatly. but she's an excellent artist! I love the songs "lemon candy" and "Sekai" "Sekai" - Hirakawachi Icchoume: young folk duo. almost nobody like them but meee T_T__T so please give them some love!! a whole bunch of their videos! - Hanaboy: virtually unknown band. but i love them all the same! theyre also very mellow and lift your spirits. unfortunately as they are so un-well known (lol), there are virtually no videos of them online. :( but here's their official site (go to discography) hanaboy samples -aaand last but not least... base ball bear: this is my new favorite band!!!! they are classified as guitar rock, which is kinda like power pop i guess. all i know is that theyre really good. and the vocalist is sexy :suki and writes sexy lyrics. end of story. my favorite songs so far are "Dramatic" and "Manatsu no Jouken", but check out their other stuff as well! if you like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, you'll probably like these guys base ball bear vids ________________________________________________________________ i know this list is kinda long....but i really suggest checking them all out. and if youre not willing to or dont have time or only like a specific type of music, i will organize it below! ROCK Captain Straydum Suneohair Base Ball Bear HIP HOP GReeeeeN (but theyre also kinda rock as well...) FOLK/POP Hirakawachi Icchoume INDIE Akeboshi CHARA Hanaboy EASY LISTENING Sweet Callin' (their japanese name is 高鈴 [kourin...which = callin' lol] |

oh yea, akeboshi! i remember that song now.. haha. it really has a nice feel to it, doesn't it.. kinda puts you into a "Lord of the Rings" / "Spiritual Journey" / "Irish Jig" vibe.. xD oh, btw..check out Base Ball Bear's "Electric Summer" and "Girlfriend".. those songs are extremely addictive.. Yusuke and Shiori's vocal duet in "Crazy For You" is insane.. Here are some of my recommendations... NOTE: are you tired of all those mainstream artists that you hear about 24/7 and just take a listen because they're the 'it-artists' or because they get so much airtime??? well, here's your chance to turn the other cheek for once and give these underdogs a chance! xD Jrock/indie: chatmonchy - an all girl rock/powerpop/semi-indie band that doesn't mess around when it comes to performing.. they have such a great chemistry when they're together that you can't help but continue to watch and listen to them.. words to describe their music: rhythmic, catchy, soul binding, reminiscent, head bobbing, and a lot of times, fun! they play and write they're own music/lyrics! oh yea, and beware of their cuteness!! xD http://youtube.com/watch?v=TYcE5s8lgJ8 [LIVE] http://youtube.com/watch?v=g-XEfQlAUmA http://youtube.com/watch?v=gmi6BaeXpOs&mode=related&search= cune - rock with a mixed variety of styles.. the singer's vocals are out of this world.. i'd say they're the "incubus" of japan just because he can maintain a strong rhythmic voice while singing on top of guitar driven music.. http://youtube.com/watch?v=uE_XLBxyl64&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pheBf6m9zU&NR=1 the band apart - ROCK with a jazz influence.. they're music is extremely ear catching and for the most part, unlike no other.. but what REALLY sets this band apart from the other jrock bands out there, the singer insists on singing all their songs in ENGLISH.. that's pretty rad.. the song that did it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14SKFVqmbKc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryh8Weye-Y0...related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeppHdja100...related&search= Quruli - first of all, don't you just love that name?? this is an experimental rock band that are fairly diverse in their music.. they can go from 'unfamiliar to the ears, yet hypnotic' rock to 'soothing and calming' rock.. the singer looks like Masafumi Gotoh's (AKFG) taller and slimmer brother, haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5IMum6hfJw [LIVE] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADhKHajw33g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DchzGdXU3v0...related&search= NUMBER GIRL - experimental rock AT IT'S BEST!!! xD these guys really tripped me out when i first listened to them... and this was the song that did it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yMS8jKViDQ...related&search= as you can see, they have a unique way of bringing their songs to life.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDoNX0lRL1g&NR=1 they're style is really unmatched.. the vocalist, Mukai, has such a unique voice that ranges from calm to trip hopping it, to basically shouting out at the top of his lungs! if you're a pure ROCK lover, you'll LOVE them.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMeVugA-UFg&NR=1 toddle - former lead guitarist from the band, "NUMBER GIRL" debuted with her own creation, known as toddle.. this is a mixed rock band.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Euem1rEdQaE Tokyo Jihen -If you follow the lovely, Shiina Ringo's music, you will definitely know who they are! This is her band and when it comes to entertaining, they won't let you down.. I mean, this band is just a joy to watch every time.. Not just for Shiina's sultry and powerful vocals, but each individual member has their own special little trait that just gives the band tremendous style and chemistry.. their music is also very diverse.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtiPJdg_ar8 [LIVE] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLkZ3r9fjyU keep an eye out for the song at the end.. it's a definite gem.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI4ltWuzUxA -------------------------------------------------------------- hmm, well... that's all i could think of for now.. i might update it later.. peace@ |

>ch|yo<: So far among this year's new artists I like Superfly the most!!! Manifesto pwns lol. Roxy36 and Nina: Nice ones, so long xD Seriously YLs have similar taste when it comes to music =D Yay for Base Ball Bear and Chatmonchy!!!!! Nina: I've heard Akeboshi's Yellow Moon, I prefer his Japanese songs *runs away* I like Hirakawachi Icchome's Unmei no Mukou (anybody tabbed the intro??). GReeeeeN ROCKS!! Love their first album (just that 2nd half kinda...). Btw, isn't CHARA's been in music industry for a long time?? Or my definition of 'indie' is different lol. Roxy: CUNE's music sounds like something I like xD Ooo I LOVE the band apart's arrangements!! As for Quruli, I like the one they collaborated with Rip Slyme lol. Aah NUMBER GIRL is that Mukai Shotoku guy's band, his solo works (and Zazen Boys) are.....his lyrics are crazy lol!! BUT WHY NOBODY MENTION RADWIMPS??!!! More mainstream ones: Futarigoto Iin desuka Otogi Not-so mainstream ones lol: イーディーピー~飛んで火に入る夏の君~ Setsuna rensa and much much much more xD I don't know how to describe them, maybe milder ELLEGARDEN (lead singer been to US a couple of years before), really meaningful lyrics (if you like Mr. Children, Bump of Chicken), arrangements something like AKFG..... Rant others next time, Jinn, sakanaction....... |

i absolutly love love love Yanawaraba you guys must have heard of them before because they had already appear on MS twice... fell in love instantly after listening to their song 'HaikaiOOSan' Yanawaraba (やなわらばー) is a japanese duet who debuted in 2003. Both girls play guitar and harmonize on their songs, and their lyrics are writen in the Okinawan dialect. The 2 members of Yanawaraba are Ishigaki Yuu (vocals and sanshin) and Aizatou Rio (vocals and acoustic guitar), both inhabitants of Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, Japan. Rio and Yuu were childhood friends who, after graduating from the highschool on Ishigaki, entered a music school in Osaka (the music style taught there, however, was different from what they wanted to learn). Since they never lived away from their families in Okinawa, a short time after they left for Osaka, they began to feel homesick. It was this loneliness that drove the two to make the music for the CD "Aoi Takara." That music gave them the opportunity to win the school audition. Eventually, others helped to form the group as it was with just Rio and Yuu. HaikeiOOSan(拝啓○○さん) (i love this best) yume wo mita (夢を見た) Sora wo koete Umi wo koete (空をこえて 海をこえて) Ichigo Ichie (いちごいちえ) they have this wonderful harmonic voice...try them out!! can't seem to find their PV because they are not that popular...=\ |
