Today it was announced to staff and Ripon and RLS that there is going to be up to 47 branch closures and 220 staff made redundant between the two offices and other support services... (120 at RLS, 60 at Ripon and 40 elsewhere i think the breakdown was). grim news indeed.. the blame was levelled on costs rising higher than profits (despite a rise in profits) due to inefficiency and duplication of some services, rather than to do with the PLC problems in north america. It was mentioned that some of the staff affected could be used to fill vacancies elsewhere and some at the head offices might even be replaced by jobs funded by PLC but it will remain to be seen in the next 3 months what actually happens. |

Although there has been no replies, until now, I notice that alot of people are at least viewing this post. Thanks for helping to make people aware of this, I think most staff will know at least one person who has been affected by these branch closures, I'd like to send my sympathy to anyone losing their job because of this and wish them the best of luck in finding another job. |

I don't think relocating call centre staff from the south to the north is a viable option for those affected members of staff, their friends, or their family. Just goes to show how much your employer really cares. I have a copy of the question and answer sheet that the 'man' from Leamington came to distribute if anyone gives cares to read it.. it's basically sugar coated shit. |
