MINNESOTA WILD RETURNS JAMES SHEPPARD TO JUNIOR TEAM

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has returned center James Sheppard to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Sheppard, 18 (4/25/88), suffered a back injury during the start of Wild training camp and was cleared to resume game action by team doctors last night. The Halifax, Nova Scotia-native tallied 84 points (30-54=84) in 66 games with Cape Breton during his 2005-06 rookie campaign in the QMJHL. He was named team captain during Screaming Eagles training camp this August.

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound center was selected by Minnesota with the ninth overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
