Yeah, another shootout win for this team, although I was not as rivited to this one as I was the other night.

I did not see all of the game but what I did see was another one where the Wild could not get any decent shots in from close range...everything seemed to be coming from the outside. I don't know but sometimes I wonder if this season the Wild are the team trying to break the defensive scheme of their opponent instead of the other way around.

Anyway, it's nice to be 4-0!

Koivu came up huge again, and won it with another spectacular goal. The goalie bit on the play that he did last game, but then Koivu came up with another shot to win it.

That was a nice move...the goaltender was thinking back-hand all the way.

Did you hear Terhar ask if was too early for the Wild to score when they went on a power-play with about 6 minutes left to play? I don't know if he was joking or not but that was one dumb question...I hope he was joking. Another thing I forgot to add...some of the penatly calls and non-calls late in the game were horrible, especially that hold call on Bouchard.

Well I saw most of the first before flipping channels at the whistles. Then I must've fallen asleep, but I woke up with 2+ minutes left in the third. Right before the penalty I woke up.

The game I watched was good, and Fernandez again came up to be a huge asset instead of liability.

Wow, that's pretty harsh...you feel Fernandez has been a liablity to this team at some point?

I think Manny has looked pretty good so far. He had the one game where it just looked like he was fighting the puck big time, but other than that not too shabby really.

I'm pretty excited about this start, these guys are showing some potential early on for a deep run.
We're comin, we're comin!!

I'm telling you, one big key to this league is getting a fast start because momentum plays a huge factor. And reading Rolstons comment the other day in the strib; he said something like 'you don't make the playoffs in October'...well technically he is right and I know what he is saying, but if you look at the season as a whole, an argument can be made that teams do. Just think back to a couple of seasons ago here in Minnesota...

Well I think you're kind of right, but not really GopherIce.

Teams don't make the playoffs in October, just like in April for Baseball.

Teams can play themselves out of the playoffs in October, just like April for Baseball, but there are way too many still in contention and far too few playoff spots to say one can earn one in the first month.

I think a fast start is crucial though, and I'm glad the Wild already have 10 points under their belts. Only 90 more and I'll feel confident that they'll make the playoffs!

I will say this...the Wild made the playoffs, whatever year that was, in October. They had such a strong start that momentum carried them right up around the all-star break, or olymipc break (I don't remember which) before they started to slip at the end. But I know that teams don't literally make it in October.

And I don't know if 100 points will be good enough the way they are handing out points this season...you may need about 110-112... ;)

Ok I read the article. It reads like it was written by you.

I just think that although its great and all, people are trying too hard to push the Wild into the playoffs already. I guess I'm just hoping that they don't jinx it. For instance last night on the post game wrap-up, Versus gave us one of the ultimate let down opportunities. They actually said this might be the year the Wild take the Northwest Division!

I'm happy for each win and hope they keep it up. I'm just afraid of a possible let down.

I do hear what you are saying...yeah, it's way to early to put them in. But I do think they have the fans excited and the media attention simply because of their off-season moves. There is no doubt that the expectations are higher than they have ever been...and realistically, expectations were never and should have never been very high in the past seasons.

Although I did not write that piece, I thought it was pretty cool because that was kind of what I was trying to get out.

They won?

I stepped away right at the end of the 3rd and it was tied. Came back and heard them wrapping up the game Wild win 2-1 in OT.

It seemed like the Kings dominated on offense but just the bounces didn't go in. After their goal on a bounce, I thought the tide was turning, but the Wild survived until OT. I come back into the room and the Wild have won!

seemed like a fluky goal, but after seeing the replay, Gabby found the time and strength to get his stick on the puck and knock it right past Cloutier. At first, I thought it had gone off his skate and he got no stick on it, but upon replay, it appears he got his stick on it at the very last second.

It did appear to, but I did not see a replay that showed it going in off his stick...but in any event, it was a nice goal.

Wow...what a finish. Yeah, they were out-played but this is great; going on the road and finding a way to win.

Tehar made what I thought was a dumb comment right after the second as the teams were skating off...something like 'well, the Kings have them right where they want them right?' So the score is tied, the Kings have carried the better play, and the teams are tied heading into the final period...exactly where the Wild wanted them I thought. How quickly even the broadcast team forgets about life on the road in the NHL...Minnesota would take that scenerio every road game if offered.

Yeah, it did not take long.

Fernandez made a couple of mistakes early that made me think it may be a long night. But he really played outstanding, making several key saves...the help from the pipes did not hurt either. But that is a good sign, when you get that lucky help.

I'm pretty certain it went off his stick. The puck didn't go 5 hole like it should have had it gone directly off his skate, it went by Cloutier's right side, so I believe he had enough time to tap the puck past.

Yeah, I am sure you are right...although none of the replay's I have seen showed that. No doubt that they looked at that goal. Doesn't the NHL have a replay team in Toronto?

Add another one to the W column!

At times the play seemed sloppy, but they found a way to win. Hope Rolston can keep up the pace, he now has 8 goals in 9 games.

here is the video of th goal. Kinda hard to tell, but if you look closely, right as Cloutier drops down, Gabby gets it to his stick.
