In my view, with Demitri and Gaborik number 1 and 2...Lemaire signs extension today. And reverting back to his old form, Risebrough refused any details of the deal. The only reason I bring this up is because up until this season, all releases on signings read 'terms of the deal were not disclosed'. But this season, I am sure to raise interest and to shed some of their 'cheap' label, most or all of the releases for the player signings had the details of the contract listed.

Anyway, nice to know that Lemaire will be with this team for longer than his old deal, whatever that means. But he is definitely the right man for this job and IMO, is the best coach in the league.

I agree, he is the best coach in the league, good to have him under contract for a few more years!

I don't know if any of you heard it, but Lou Nanne was on KFAN yesterday afternoon for his weekly hockey talk with Barriero. They discussed Lemaire's extension, including possible $ terms. Nanne said Lemaire is the highest paid coach in the NHL and he thought the new contract might bring Lemaire something along the lines of $1.2-$1.5 million/year. Not a bad deal, eh? ;) He also talked about how he thinks Minnesota is a really good fit for Lemaire because Lemaire is a rather understated kind of guy and his personality kind of blends in with the general MN culture, LOL. He also said one of the primary reasons Lemaire left Montreal and NY was that in those markets your every move is very closely scruitinzed and he just got sick of all of that and quit. Whereas here, even though hockey rules, he can kind of blend into the background and get things done without having to answer repeated media & fan questions about every itsy bitsy move he makes. Anyhow, I thought it was a good show - I always like listening to Nanne on the radio, he always seems to have good info to share.

I do remember hearing about the pressure of coaching in Montreal when Lemaire first came to Minnesota. In fact, as I recall, when either Montreal came here or the Wild played up there for the very first time, there was a huge number of press credentials given out for that game because of Lemaire...so much so that our media made reference to it.

Nanne is a great source for hockey info...kind of surprises me that he is still plugged-in the way that he is. But he knows pretty much everything that is going on with all levels of hockey. I missed this show, but I very much enjoy listening to him when he is on.

Nice to hear that Lemaire is paid that way...IMO, he deserves to be up there in salary.
