That's right, I am coming around...for now anyway. Yeah, the shoot-out tonight was exciting and I actually enjoyed it. I never thought I would say it... And another nice win tonight. Kind of a ho-um game for much of it, but it was great goaltending on both ends of the ice. Greenlay made a great comment about how he's wondering what the Vancouver press will write because they alway have hammered the Wild in the past about how boring they play...well tonight it looked to me like the Canucks were the more defensive team. |

Great goaltending battle. Luongo made an awesome save on Rolston in the shootout. I stood up and started yelling when Nummelin scored

and here I am stuck at work with no chance to see anything,,,,,(GRRRRR!). I think shootouts are great. Two things the USHL does better than the NHL regarding shootouts; 1.) 5 shooters in the USHL instead of 3. More drama. (Last year SC and GB sent 13 shooters out before it was decided. THAT was fun.) 2.) What is with the NHL sending out the Zamboni before the shootout? Most of the NHL shooters carry the puck into the snow outside that stupid "pathway" anyway. OK, I'm done ranting. I'll crawl back into my cave now. P.S. I'd use emoticons,,but I don't know how. Must be something to do with my age! |

You just have to click the little smilies on the left hand side of the page when you make a post Koivu's goal was pretty sweet, as was Nummelin's. Was listening to Lemaire after the game, and he said he asked who should go next and one coach said Johnsson and the other said Nummelin, so he was confused. Then he said Nummelin just looked back at him and he gave him the nod to go, and I guess it turned out ok  |

I think Koivu's goal was the best I've seen in a while. It was a great win. They've never been 3-0, and they beat Vancouver. 2 great win points. I too am partial to the 5 shooter USHL, but I do like shootouts anyway. Its bad of course when your team loses, but so thrilling when they win. For all the nagging I've given Fernandez in the past, I have to admit he played a heck of a game. He came up huge in the shootout, and was outstanding in the third and OT. |

Just so we are clear, I'm not saying that. I still think that there is a better way to end a game, but I will admit that it was exciting to watch last night. And yes I'm coming around, but it is nice knowing that somebody is going to win...it does beat a tie game. As for the USHL method...I don't see a problem with them re-surfacing the middle of the rink. Using last night's game, I think there were two players, both Wild, who went outside that area...I guess it's a non-issue IMO. And 5 instead of 3 shooters...again, a non-issue from my view. I think the only thing it would do would be to delay the drama and not add to it. The only thing I would change in this process would be to make the shooter skate a big loop around the center-ice circle on his approach, then they would have to use their skate to kick the puck up to their stick before coming in...you know, just like Youngblood did in the movie. |
