I lost out again to my first choice...Rowdy snatched Corvo so now I have to hope that Columbus get's moving and signs my second choice, Zherdev (although it's looking unlikely at this point)...and this is not the first time I missed out through the waiver process. <_<

I wouldn't expect Zherdev to be playing in the NHL this season. He wants $9 mil over 3 years and MacLean only offered $6.6 over 3, and hasn't heard back since.

$9 mil for what? He hasn't done very much yet

I heard that z's number is closer to 7...but who knows. I can tell you that Columbus cannot afford to lose another player though.

They signed Anson Carter to take the place of Zherdev. If Zherdev is serious about playing, he will have to drop his demands and give in.

Yeah, I've read about the Carter bit...but who would you rather have? It's too bad because it kind of sounds similar to the Gaborik ordeal where IMO, he got some real bad advice.

well, Zherdev seems to think he's worth all this money, yet hasn't proved he's worth it yet. The Jackets are hoping he can be as good as he was last year.

There is still no movement in talks between Columbus and Nikolai Zherdev.
Reportedly the two sides are not talking, other than published reports in newspapers. According to GM Doug MacLean "Here’s where it stands with me: When I made a $6.6 million offer (for three years), Rolly countered with $9 million and said he’d consider $8.5 million to take to (Zherdev). I went to $6.9 million and I haven’t heard a word since." As the talks appear to have reached a stalemate, it looks more and more like Zherdev will not be in the NHL this season. Stay tuned.

I've had zero luck on the waivers as well thus far this season.

I think I've had great luck with the waivers (something probably sounds wrong with that, since I am running the league), but I haven't checked in a few days.

Really?

Restricted free agent Nikolai Zherdev ended months of contentious negotiations with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, signing a three-year deal estimated to be worth more than $7 million.

Does anyone know why Brad Isbister is listed as inactive? Don't tell me I grabbed another retired player. Please tell me I didn't do that again!

Not sure, he signed a 1-year deal not too long ago with the Canes I believe.

Sorry pal, I did some searching and came up with empty...other than he signed a one-year deal in August.

When will he be coming back? He must be coming back, isn't he?

I'm going to back up a bit on my first comments...I picked up Nabokov off of the wiaver wire and he has 2 shutouts for my team already. Now that's managing...not that I am tooting my own horn or anything!

Funny, I was not really going to try and get him, I believe it was my second or third choice with my wiaver number. I thought Toskala was going to get most of the minutes for the Sharks but it's turned out that they have been splitting time.
