Have not posted up too much so far his season, because there has been so litlle to get fired up about, but tonite merits a WOW.

Nip and tuck for most of the first 3/4, but 78-71 at the third, then 94-81 up towards the end of the fourth, still 7 or 8 up going into the final couple of minutes, and I am thinking surely we cannot give this one away. But wow to the Riders for they way they hustled all the way back into it, getting to 112-111 with 4 seconds remaining!

Lots of outrageous 3s made by Wieberczki (but he hurls a lot up to make those) & wildly improbable baskets from Minor. Johnson had a quiet one today, and there were ordinary games from a lot of the others. Think that Leics maybe have a touch of the Evertons in having too many players for too few minutes.

Zabas was (once more) the man today, ably supported in the backcourt by Vid, and we had a tidy trio upfront in in Disy, George & Harker. Christie & Sanders probably had their most decent games of the season, but, even so, the one negative I have to state is that I do not think it too unreasonable to expect more from a pair of Americans than we are seeing.

Anyway, for now, its real nice to bathe in the glow of a W.

Just maybe, they'll both get picked for this week's BBL " team of the week!!"

Couldn't make the game :doh as I'm still recovering from a second eye operation.

Hopefully, :pray :pray I'll get the OK this coming week from my consultant and I'll be back taking photo's against MK Lions in a couple of weeks.

Great result for Wolves in a rollercoaster game that could have gone either way at the end. OK, looks like there was not much defence on show, with 100 points in the first half and 124 in the second, but players like Minor, Zabas and Disy in todays mood are difficult to keep down.

As well as being a vital second league win this was just what Wolves needed with the cup game at Riders next week. Once Wolves went in front they seemed more determined than Riders, who went to sleep for a stretch in the second half. Nerijus Karlikanovas was sat on the Wolves bench watching this one and looked pleased at what he was seeing. He will give us extra firepower for the return next week.

I agree with Solly that we should expect the two US imports to deliver more especially on the scoreboard, but both are starting to contribute to the overall team performance. Christie made his highest score so far plus 3 assists in his point guard job share role. Saunders chipped in with 3 blocks and 2 from 2 free throws in the last few seconds when Minor was threatening to snatch the game single handed.

See you in Leicester next week...

An exciting finish to a fast paced game. Although we nearly snatched it from you at the end I would concede that you guys deserved the win. Disy was very impressive but I thought Zabas was your standout player. We just couldn't stop him in the second half. I thought our transition D was dreadful tonight but Worcester did a great job of pushing the ball and exploiting it. If your imports were as good as Disy and Zabas you would be fighting for a top four finish.

Hey Wolves fans,

If Leicester had scheduled a game in Worcester last year, we would've won that too. Wonder who they paid off not to take the trip . . . just a little humour there Rider fan. :getouttahere

I'm sure Christie and Saunders are gonna contribute in a big way. It's still very early. They are in a strange, strange land. Here, I specifically refer to Worcester not just the UK as a whole. Once they get there heads adjusted to the funky weather, lack of Taco Bell and other good cheap eateries, soccer, rugby, what alright means, traffic on the wrong side o the road, pants being trousers, the fact that you can't just pick a fat swan outta the Severn and toss it on a BBQ...well, once they get it figured, the game will come to them. Who the hell ever heard of a triangular basketball key anyway?????

More scoring is not what the Wolves need in the long term. To get to the playoffs (and despite the horrendous start we're only one game out of a play off spot) the Wolves need some sort of D and consistency.

The great news is, we all know the Wolves aren't peaking yet. Nor should they be. Now is not the time. Got a grand feeling the best is yet to come. All they gotta do is keep improving. One game at a time.

Think coach is doing a good job so far.

Out,

Guy

PS - We need more drumming at the Wolves games :blah
