According to the headline on the back page, and the article inside (if I can find it inline I'll post a link, Fab has broken a finger.

Apparently it happened in training just before they boarded the bus for Plymouth, and he will see a plastic surgeon about it next week.

It is thought that he will be out as a player for 4 weeks or so - although from what I know of Fab he wont be out for any longer than is STRICTLY necessary.

This is bad news, but something I'm sure we can overcome.

Probably the same way Angel of the North has managed without the bottle of red wine you promised her well over a year ago!!!
Like my family and I she works on a matchnight to give something back to the club.

Why don't you bring the bottle up to the Eagles/Sharks game next week and find out?

You'll be more than welcome at the Arena!

You forgot to add Fab`s assists, blocks, tough defense and most importantly he`s our leader. More mojo than Austin Powers! Ritesik - oh behave!
A bit rusty and knackered but still impressive for her age!

And of course one should always remember that what is reported in Newspapers is not always 100% accurate or IS IT???

One wonders if Fab will be at Plymouth today or will he really miss an important game for his side??? And if he is at The Pavilions what role will he play, if any!!!

One interesting point is the re-surfacing of Shark Retsek who seems to have managed to drag himself out of the funk caused by the "useless" Charles Smiith a little over a week ago!!!

And if wine debt does increase due to non-payment we may have an extremely drunk Angel on our hands!!!

Oh and remember the motto "In Fab We Trust"!!!

I would not normally disagree with one of your posts, Pointy, but...

I was told by a very reliable source earlier today that Fab hadn't travelled, but was asked to keep it under my hat so that the Raiders didn't get wind of it too soon.

Now the match is underway it can't do too much harm!

Must admit I was a bit surprised that he hadnt travelled.

And his points scoring is probably the least important aspect of his contribution to the Eagles.

No doubt we will see him at Chester next week, not being unkind but I hope he looks smart in a suit prowling up and down the courtside as opposed to prowling up and down the court in a pair of shorts

However if you take out Glen, Spragg and Neilson all good but not that good yet, you only had 6 against Plymouth..... cant think of the seventh yet?

BWAHAHAHAHA you loose one player averaging 5 points a game and you chumps can't even beat Plymouth!

Not even the amazing ( :roflol2 ) Charles Smith could prevent you going down, damn that's brightened my day!

I thought it might take an Eagles defeat to wake you up Retsek. Pity us CHUMPS still managed to turn over your beloved Sharks. BWAHAHAHAHA.

Oh dear retsek if you were thery you would know that it wasn't a bad performance by newcastle, unlike yours against us the week prior, but just a great game of basketball that could have gone to either team. Gladly though our first win of the season, and I for one will be happy if it is our only especially as it was over Eagels who will beat you for the title! My only disappointment though is that Flab wasn't there in person, but only in spirit as Smith looked slow and clumsy, and just generally unfit instead! So I presume a game Flab doesn't feel is difficult enough to warrant him coming down to just coach has bitten him back, and please don't make excuses that he was not there, as you are probably better off without him taking minutes off your better players!

I guess I shouldn't rise to the bait but..............................!!!

No disrespect to Big Billy Spragg and he knows this because we talked at length after the game I really don't think this defeat would have happened if Fab had been present at The pavilions yesterday in whatever capacity!!!

Time will tell just how important he is to us as a player but he's equally important as a coach and perhaps faces one of the most important and crucial periods of his whole career?

He's always said that when he's done playing he'll be done coaching now that he's going to have to have a spell purely coaching he may find out just whether or not he could continue in that role when he is done playing...............................something I think he's a long way from doing!!!

Oh and why oh why does Retsek post??? Simple, I suspect he doesn't even believe all the things he says himself he's just, albeit quite a good one, wind-up merchant who enjoys stirring things up!!! He is though entertaining and worthy of a reply or two although I suspect he's only ever going to see things one-way and that's Anti-Eagles!!!

And does he seriously think that with Fab out next Saturday as a player it doesn't increase Sharks chances of a revenge win THEY HAVE to get???

And BTW 5.7-pts yesterday would have tipped the balance our way!!!

Finally to James7 if Charles (18.75ppg this season) Smith's 24-pts were achieved despite him being slow and clumsy god help the BBL when he gets fit!!!

Then I look forward to seeing him fit, but i fear for your sakes that when he is Flab will also be and will therefore be taking minutes off of him! If he was serious about coaching though surely he would have made the trip with the rest of the team??

In light of the news that Fab will be out of playing action until after Christmas , the squad looks decidely thin on the ground - effectively down 2 senior players from last season- so how about this suggestion for a short term solution ? ( bear with me for the reasoning ): - Sign Steve Leven on a short term contract ! :pullhair

Now I know that suggestion may go down like a cup of cold sick at Eagles H.Q following his acrimonious departure , but here is the rationale :

1) He only seems to do short term anyway !
2) He is around the area still , apparently helping out Tees Valley Mohawks !
3) When he was here last time , we won 4 consecutive OT games in the run in for the title .i.e he can cope with the pressure.
4) We need to get the ball in the hands of a reliable shooter ( a la Trey Moore ) when the chips are down.
5) He is tall enough to play the "3" role.
6) Must be fit , was playing for GB until September.
7) He is a crowd pleaser.- although to be fair the home faithful wouldn't see much of him thanks to Mamma Mia !
8) He doesn't need a passport .

Perhaps the 2 parties could let bygones be bygones :love , after all I have just watched a documenatary about Fleetwood Mac , and if they can get back together after all they have been through , then anything is possible !

Obviously I have no idea about the financial implications , but anyway the suggestion might prompt some discussion !
Come on you 'Ull !

Shame on you people. All of the Newcastle fans come on your forums and congratulate you when your teams do well, we don`t slag off your players or coaches. We love our team most, but in support of Paul and the rest of the BBL we want to see the league grow and be even more successful.
In fact but for the OOTA spending their time and money chasing round the league at the weekends some of you wouldn`t actually know how your teams were doing week after week. Next report from Everton v Heat, Arena Saturday and Northgate on Sunday and will no doubt be relaying scores from other games as they come in. Do you appreciate this? I think you do, by the number of people online at game time.

Then do us a favour, us northerners like a bit of banter but questioning the commitment and fitness of Fab is a joke. He`d have been there if the break hadn`t happened just before the team got on the bus to leave. He`ll be upset he didn`t travel and he`ll now be more determined to get us back on track.

Retsek, Fab has more talent in his one broken finger than you have in the whole of your anonymous poisoned keyboard. Don`t bother trying to pay me the bottle of wine I won fairly from you.......I now wouldn`t accept it.

"unlike yours against us the week prior" - so, we still won didn't we? A sign of a good team is being able to win when your not playing well.

"as it was over Eagels who will beat you for the title" - we will see about that.

"So I presume a game Flab doesn't feel is difficult enough to warrant him coming down to just coach has bitten him back" - True, so very true. How nice to see such absurd overconfidence end in a complete and total backfire.

Also about all this complaining about having one player injured. Please, tell that to a Worthing fan, how many players have they had out this season?

And regarding Levan, that would be a superb signing, I for one hope he stays with Teeside, he was a decent player.

Fab broke his finger on sat morning at practice. The bus and hotel were booked and leaving an hour after practice. As it left fab was in hospital having an emergency operation to have his finger re-set. He was then drugged up on painkillers for the rest of the week-end, unable to drive.

There is no way he could have driven or got there and your comment is seriously unfair.

Fab's record speaks for itself and there's really no need for you guys to defend him. No matter how successful Eagles are, they will never reach the heights of the Sharks for lack of popularity amongst other BBL fans.

It does make the Eagles squad look a little threadbare though...

Well I for one would like to send on my best wishes to Fab for a successful and speedy recovery. :hug It just wasn't the same without you on the bench at the Raiderdome.

I have it on very good authority the real reason why Eagles lost - shall I tell you???????

Well said Angel...seems a bit odd having to defend Fab etc on our own board but there's obviously so little happening with sharks and Raiders that the likes of James 7 and Retsek have nothing better to do.

So Les Luke and the rest of the team spend three days on the road not just following their team but also providing the rest of those who follow the forum with scores on the other games and this is how some of you thank them. You sit there and don't even bother to follow your team when they are playng away from home and then criticise someone who can't make a 1000 mile round trip because he's just had surgery and is drugged up to the eyeballs - unbelievable.

We congratulate other teams when they beat us although of course old Sharkbait will get a bit of banter (it's good to give and take). Some of you come on here and just have a good old bitch on the basis of no facts. There's plenty of places on the web for people like you to do that so it won't be too hard to find them. I suggest you do so - retsek you might want to try your board for a change.... :notlistening

If Sharks beat us this week then we'll congratulate them just like we congratulated raiders. (Watch out Retsek if we win tho' :roflol2 )I don't think we're complaining about Fab being injured, we're upset, concerned but complaining - surely not. We're upset in the same way that Sharks would be if they lost Cook, in the way that Lions fans would be if they lost Harrison etc. As for Fab's level of confidence, Dave's explained why he wasn't there but even if that wasn't the case, with his record over the last five years he has more right to be confident in his team than anyone else in the league.
