MASSIVE, MASSIVE WIN!!!

Fantastic game, both teams gave everything they had, great defense from both teams. on those sort of performances both teams could finish in top 4.

Les and Luke have given a great run down of plays in the BBL forum, little I can add to how they described the game.

Team was almost everything from both teams and truly impossible to pick an MVP, too many contenders.

Robert- Worked so hard inside, particularly on defense- fouled out eventually.
Mike- Seemed to get better as the game went on-and worked far better with Frank than previously, his best game for Lions this month.
Frank- Seems to improve each game, shooting was a little off but Lions are a better team with him on court. Excellent signing by Vince.
Dawud- His steal near the end probably sealed the game. A bit of an enigma- one minute superb, the next he looks a little lazy- but his heart is large, I don't believe we've seen the best of him yet and that could be scary for the rest of the league!
Yorick- Seems to be still carrying an injury, but played hard throughout and scored important points.
Dru- Defensively after half time he did a fantastic job on Cook and was superb in the last overtime to take Lions home.
EJ- Sharks did a great job of closing him down but he is such a TEAM player that he finds other ways to make Lions tick. THE signing of the season!
Limited or no minutes from everyone else- although a quick mention for Max with some really strong 'd' when he came on.

For Sharks, Cook top scored- but he took 35!!!!! shots. Looked unstoppable in the first half, but as mentioned above, Dru managed it in the 2nd half. He may score points but he possibly cost Sharks the game with his selfishness. Every Sharks player gave everything they had and they will play a fair bit worse than this and win. If I had a criticism, it's that they complain about basically EVERY call and I doubt it does them much favours with the refs. Bit surprised Patton didn't play more minutes. Defensively excellent throughout the whole team.

Ref Watch- Poor- equally both ways in the whole game, however Lions got a couple of crucial calls near the end which were a little fortuitous. Horns were allowed!!!

Lastly, have to mention the atmosphere which was excellent. As good as it's been at Bletchley and I believe that the fans finally drove Lions to victory. Lions were floundering a little and the Lions faithful moved into a different gear and pushed the team on. :clap :clap :clap

Of course this win means nothing if we slip up tomorrow. The team will be tired and it will be tough, but if we manage the win tomorrow, the other teams in the league will have to start taking us seriously.

Acording to the stats, Cook shot 12/31 and Patton 5/14 from deep, no-one else on the Sharks took too many shots.

Sounded like a good game to watch.

Cook is a ball hog if last night is anything to go by! I've got him down as taking 35 shots!!!! So many times he drove in blind to score himself instead of dishing it to one of his open teammates

It truely was a battle! If a draw was allowed it would have been fair on commitment. After the second quarter I was beginning to wonder if Lions wanted the win but luckily they decided they did and some fought damn hard for it. Frank has been immense what a signing along with EJ who we all know was class. Dawd I saw was getting some stick from Vince but he really plays his heart out. Another great signing. Dru steadied things at the 1st overtime - Captain Cool and from then on I think the team realised they could/would get a win. I have to say I am worried about Mike . . . sorry but sometimes he seems alittle weary and misses the ball. As Pat says he got better as the game progressed.
As Pat points out the atmosphere was great - reminded me of days of old!!!! I hope we don't have too many games like this though - don't know if the old heart can take it :laugh Well done to both teams for a fab game. :clap :clap Hopefully the guys will have plenty in the tank for tonights game - good luck - c'mon Lions!! :dance :dance

I thought the atmosphere was great, even though my throat is still raw! Totally worth it tho, i do wish that the lions fans would get on their feet more during tense times or during the last min of a game we are winning etc. feel it adds to the atmosphere!

I think standing at the back during the tight games was a good touch. The players seemed to appreciate the noise we were making!

You can tell why Lions fans were a touch!! unhappy with Gorman after that!!

Another interesting point to note, is the referees whistle which stopped the play due to the 'injury'!
Totally incorrect call by the official.

Would also be interested to know if faking an injury in such a manner is a technical foul- I presume not.

I think a lot of you are wrong to be calling Mike Cook a ball hog etc he is our go to go guy and an absoloute class act. Most teams have a go to guy and he's ours (Sharks) everyone on the Sharks team has a role to play and they seem to perform that role excptionally well most of the time. Fortunately this formula seems to be working at this moment in time.
