Good night up in Scotland yesterday, Jets qualify for the next round where we have the pleasure of entertaining at the Northgate, old foes Newcastle ,along with their fans OOTA army, watch this space for fixture details as soon as they are finalised. Overall the big thing for me last night was that it was a TEAM performance, both offensively and also in defence (some superb blocked shots by Shawn). The guys led from the beginning but the lead for either team always was in single digits, Rocks staged a comeback at one point to take the lead buy 6 but thankfully the guys kept their heads together and pulled it back to win 73 -78. On a personal note having been watching basketball for around 15 years, I would just like to pass comment on the Rocks commentator, DIRE!!!. It's fine to get the crowd going and behind your team, but at least give the opponents the one thing you didn't give and that's RESPECT, instead of making personal and sometimes apparently abusive remarks about players and the team. Rocks have a reasonable venue and a good organization only let down by this guy, I actually wondered who was the ape, Rocks mascot Rocky or the guy behind the mike!! Quick comment to Kellyms (aka known as Mike Kelly who writes in the Jets program)
You were at the Tigers game last week weren't you? Finally must mention the traveling Jets fanslast night (including the Price family who were on holiday in Scotland and decided to drive down for the game) who were in excellent voice all the way through the game and especially good at the end in changing the words to the Rocks final song, Status Quo's "Rocking all over the World" to "Jetting all over the World. Be warned I have it on video!!!! GO JETS |

Kieron's a DJ on 96.3 Rock Radio under the persona of Father Ted - what you heard was a toned down version of his show. He is far worse (in terms of bawdyness) on air!! |

I've been so shocked that we finally managed to beat the Tigers that I've forgotten what happened in most of that game!

Good to see the usual travelling Jets fans last night and good to chat with you again Debbie. We'll be down at the Northgate in November so I'll catch up with you then. Got to say that your guys played well and deserved their win. I believe your reward for that is a game v Eagles which should be interesting and very entertaining I'll bet. See you at Northgate in November for the next installment. |

I agree. It really annoys me when he makes comments pre- and post- opposition FT attempts. |

Was sweating waiting for the result (sorry a lie.... sweating ´cos its 80 degrees here on holiday) but sounded like a good team performance, its getting really hard to predict a Jets top scorer. it used to be easy just put down Chez but well done everyone. |

This is the gudance for announcers which all teams sign up to : During the Game The Announcer should highlight: i.The scorer of a basket, not every score but when appropriate to the game ii.The player who commits a fouls, his number, the number of fouls against the player and the team, after the table raises their signal. It is vital that no comment, above and beyond naming the player and describing the offence, as signalled by the referee, should be made until the marker is raised. iii.As a substitution occurs, the names and numbers of the players involved. iv.As a time-out occurs the team calling the time-out and the number that half. v.At a substitution, time-out and other intervals, the announcer can contribute information on the state of the game i.e. a.Score b.Time left to play c.Team foul situation d.Leading scorers/rebounders and assists e.Number of time-outs taken vi.The comments made during the game must be constructive, add to the presentation or pick up a game that is going flat vii.Play by Play commentary should be keep to a minimum. Early in the game it might add to the enjoyment of the spectator to highlight a player when he receives the ball. Every effort should be made not to destroy the concentration of a player about to shoot. viii.During an offence there should be no comment on ‘off the ball offensive moves’ (this would give advantage to the defence). No attempt should be made to describe the offensive or defensive patterns ix.All players should be complimented on the good things that happen. x.The announcer should keep his/her own records of points, fouls etc. as under no circumstances should the scorer be asked to provide this information. xi.At half-time announcements of some interesting statistics should be given to keep the spectators involved. Announcers must not: i.Engage in cheerleading, that is encouraging the crowd to cheer performance ii.Make detrimental comments on official decisions, or lack of them iii.Call 24 seconds iv.Count down time situations. |

Lots of the Eagles fans said the same about the announcer when we went to Kelvin Hall, dire is being kind! I`d have gone for irritating, provocative and unnecessary. |
| A bit rusty and knackered but still impressive for her age! | |
