Short report, more to follow- probably on Monday!

Comprehensive win by Lions and I don't think the result was in much doubt by the end of the first quarter. Lions simply have more- and better players. IG, and Max both got extended minutes, which will undoubtedly help them adjust to the BBL. Vince rotated the team and we were constantly strong defensively.
EJ again showed his class and Frank with fairly limited minutes must have been close to another double double. Robert failed to play any of the 2nd half. Raiders have a good big man, who takes FAR too long when taking his free throws!! Apart from him and Alistair Gall, who played really well throughout, they had little to trouble us.

Horns were BANNED before the start of the game!! We blew them once and were politely informed(Riders take note!!) that they would be confiscated if we blew them again. The rule apparently came from the refs, but after questioning Hayden after the game, apparently the refs were told by the officials table to ban them!
Is this now a rule in the BBL- or is it simply aimed at Lions? I will be very interested to know if the horns were banned at Heat!

Big credit goes to Raiders and the pavilions management- we had a couple of things thrown at us and after a quick word with Nickie, there were many eyes watching for the rest of the game and plentiful apologies. I have complained previously regarding Raiders about this. They handled this episode superbly and need to be congratulated.

Pat,

horns were in full cry at the Heat tonight - at least 1/2 a doz being blown, and I for one will continue to do so.

If someone wants to ban me, they'd better be prepared for some serious media backlash.

And after another Wilkinson "make it up as you go along" performance, the MIGs (at least it was grey tonight, with a fetching piping of orange) have little respect from me: as such I feel their authority to do anything, particularly off court, frankly questionable.
GO HEAT

We play TEAM ball.

I reserve the right to ignore you in a grown-up, though slightly aloof way if you are rude to me.

Jim- I might be being paranoid!- however I am rather beginning to think that you won't have a problem until Lions come to visit!

Ok- quick run down on players- and other thoughts.

Mike- Far more solid game from him and worked better with Frank than he has previously. Great player to have coming off the bench.
Robert- failed to see any action during the 2nd half. Solid during the 1st. But all went wrong when he picked up his 3rd foul and then got a technical for what seemed like walking off court. Obviously then had some words with Vince, who ordered him to the changing rooms before half time.
Frank- offensively killed Raiders, they had no way of stopping him, hence 8 from 8 shooting, coupled that with 7 rebounds in just over 21 minutes.
IG- Defensively very strong but seemed slightly nervous on offense. Getting decent minutes (over 13) like he did, will help this.
Max- Defensively strong too, and grew into he game, played major minutes- over 20. Unlucky not to score more. Easily the best he has played for Lions.
Dru- Commited and excellent defence as always, scored 10 points but should have had more.
Yorick- Played well without ever imposing himself on the game, but it wasn't necessary for him to play long minutes.
Craig- Guy- not enough minutes to have an effect
Ish- No minutes
Dawud- really good performance again, at both ends of the court. Looks so laid back he'll fall over but has changed as a player since EJ joined- looks a good signing.
EJ- I have no idea what to say- the guy is pure class. He is also deceptively quick- during one play he changed his speed and left the Raiders team trailing in his shadow. May not bomb down court like Anthony Martin or Terrell, but is probably more explosive than either over 5 meters. MVP.

A real TEAM performance again, which is such a delight to see. I have no idea how long this run will continue, but it is very nice being a Lions fan at the moment. There are still things to be worked on but no team will fancy playing us at the moment.

Plymouth will be better once James Noel returns. Valencia was decent offensively but needs to step up his defence. Matt Hilary looked a fair pick up, but it was captain marval Alistair Gall who really impressed. Best game I have seen him play. If all the Raiders players had the same effort and commitment level they would have won more games.

Ref Watch- interesting and slightly bizarre reffing decisions during the game, but equally shared out between the two teams. Pleased to report that although Gavin Williams was there wasn't a 'v' sign in view all evening!!

Amazingly,I don't think I shouted at the refs once! When they made a poor decision it was generally so poor it was laughable not shoutable!!

Another small point, Lions very select few fans managed to out noise Raiders fans for much of the game. It was also good to see that the music was kept to a minimum.
