I am new to the National League - how does promotion and relegation work? How many teams? Rules over ties at the end of the season etc? A link would be great

regulation 22 applies to promotion and relegation and 6.3 is about tied league positions.

But do the regulations get applied rigorously? We've seen teams that finished as low as 4th get promoted, teams finishing 1st staying put and teams finishing bottom not being relegated over the years. A lot of it seems to depend on the number of teams in the league for the new season, and I think it was Arrows (?) who finished top but didn't move up because their venue was considered in-adequate for D1 (this was a few years ago when they were Derbyshire Arrows).
