Good to get our first win last night whatever the opposition.

Didn't go so can someone tell me what we played like? I'm presuming James didn't play so did any of the bench get on?

Cheers

Its really funny how no-one has added a post to this thread Jonah - if we had lost on Saturday you would have been flooded with replies.

Unfortunately due to my role at home games I don't get to see much of the game but I can tell that James didn't play.

It was a very close game, which really could have gone either way. Glad Raiders got the win though, they didnt play great to be honest but Capitals are clearer a much better side this year which is good for the BBL

I've seen the stats on the BBL site now it's finally been updated.

Lets hope the win has given the team some confidence for the weekend.

Do we know how long James is likely to be out for?

Nickie's right .... AGAIN !

I missed the pre-season games due to holiday, so it was my first look at the new players.

As can be expected from the first two results, confidence is a tad low, but overall I was impressed with each of the new players and am confident that they all have a lot to offer.

It was a good (and necessary) win on Saturday, against a pretty good Capitals side - who beat Leicester Riders the next day. If they keep the squad that played us on Saturday together all season, they should win their fair share of games.

The potential loss of James for a couple of months or so is huge, and I imagine quite a headache for the Board as they try to work out what needs to be done to bolster the team in certain areas.

I think that at least 2 players are required of BBL starting standard in order to give the current starters the back up they need (though I thought the bench guys did pretty well on Saturday).

I was impressed with what both Tino and Matt showed in the game throughout, not least in effort. Terry started to play like we (and he) expect him to, and Eric scored 20 points while not really dominating as he will once he knows that he is not carrying the whole team on his shoulders.

An additional Point Guard (eg. Ant Martin ?) would give Eric the comfort of knowing that he can relax and try things, rather than hesitate or have to force the issue.

It's tough as they are all new to the BBL, but I reckon that each one individually will show over the next weeks that they would not have looked out of place in last years team.

One thing is for sure judging on Saturday's game, this team is never likely to be accused of not trying.

OR - What's up with James if he is out for a couple of months, I thought the club were fairly certain it wasn't a serious injury?

Even with James I'd say we need a couple more players but I doubt we can afford them.

I'll be going this weekend so I hope we can surprise a few people.

The only solution I can think of that won't cost money is for Gary to play!

In hindsight, I'm not now sure whether the final prognosis is in on James ?

Is it not a niggling achilles ? I've never known that injury just disappear overnight.

Perhaps I may have believed something I think I read in the Herald, a schoolboy error I know !

(ps. Nickie - when was the other time ?)

Between you and me OR I think it was on the Raiders v Worthing thread regarding the number of times Sean Porter and Mark Gilbard can play for Raiders :shhh

I hesitate to say it Nickie, but your pearls of wisdom are like London buses ... ?

Bad news regarding the likely length of James's injury lay off in the Herald today - tendonitis is one of those awkward injuries to get over, in my experience.

Once you think you have, it's easy to try it out and damage it again going back to square one.

Mind you, the skills of the physio have come on leaps and bounds since I needed treatment back in the old black and white TV days.

(Metaphor intended !)

Looking at the fixture list, I'm afraid I can't see our 2nd win anytime soon given the current cicrumstances.
