What is this team? I heard that Bud Johnston is playing for them? Any information? Is it strictly a university team, or is it open to other players? Anybody had a chance to see them play? |

This team is an initiative from the university and thunder to offer a routeway into top flight basketball and education at the same time. The main core is uni students and we have 3 outside players already signed for the season. It is also partnered with worthing college academy to offer their players some national league basketball and hopefully encourage them to carry on their education at chichester uni, although none of them have seized the opportunity as of yet. It's not an open team as such. Bud is playing with us, he is at chi uni studying this year and has performed excellently so far. Played 2 games, won the first against bath by 5 and lost to solent on saturday by 9. Solent look to be the strongest team in the league. |

How often does this team train? is it an academy? Also to what extent is the link with worthing thunder? |

We train twice a week. One session is dedicated to uni squad only and the other session includes all the non students also. However, we are looking into increasing the training time. As far as the link with thunder goes, it is seen as a routeway into further education for promising young talent and it gives them an opportunity to play national league. If the coaching staff feel that any individuals are good enough to make the bbl grade, those players may be asked to train with the squad and potentially play for the first team in the long run. That is any players goal that is thinking of coming to the university to play their basketball. It is an incentive for them to improve and push to the next level. |

Bud looked promising years ago when he was with the Bears! He must be a lot better by now. With our current injury problems a call up might need to happen sooner than expected... |
