Two live games a week is impressive but other than the Allstar Game and the Finals I can't see me staying up for or taping any late nighters. Pity they're not screening games played on Sunday afternoon Stateside live. Any word on highlight shows? |

I know they have to put the games on at a time that at least SOME people might watch (ie Midnight vs 3am), but the shortage of Western Conference games on there is pretty stark. Also, I feel I may have to start hating the Cavs if I watch them that often, talk about saturation, Jeebus... All that being said, I only bought ESPN because I knew they were getting the NBA coverage, so I shall be Sky+ing everyone of them!

Hi guys, The site is being updated. Those times aren't right afaik! What will happen, as far as I know (again!), is that nba action will show once a week at normal UK viewing hours. NBA fastbreak will show a few times a week as per the US. Live games may be shown early hours(!) then repeated once or twice at more UK friendly times. Also Kick-off(!!!!) is being changed... The fixtures are mainly the first games of double-headers that ESPN show in the states on Wednesday and Friday nights (Lakers @ Rockets is one exception), so you might be lucky enough to get the half-time show (possibly pre-game). After the clocks change (US clocks go back before ours do), I would expect you find most of these games tip off at 1am, as 8pm Eastern is their normal starting time. As for Sundays, why not wait until the next segment of the tv schedule is released. As I've posted elsewhere before, Sunday games on national tv don't start until end of January when the NFL season is ending. ESPN produce the Sunday ABC games so you may well get them and if you do, they'll be nice and early (tip-offs varying from 6pm GMT to 10pm GMT). Nice for those of you who don't like late nights! If that was the case, then hope they decide to show a Christmas day game as well. |

Yep Bingo! The list of options I saw was (US) ESPN only games. So it was a situation where if there was one game, then that game was selected for ESPN (UK). If it was a double header on the list, it was either or. Select the "better" game and then check the schedule for best fit & clashes etc. Make your final choice. No ESPN (US) games on Sunday afternoon for a bit if you look here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/schedule (Times are shown as well as ESPN (US) games) |

There are always a couple of teams that get shown too much while others not at all, and obviously the Cavs and Lakers would be those teams this year (in the US - bet loads of the 2nd parts of the double headers feature LA) but that really is a lot of Cavs games. If you're not a Cavs fan it could get a bit boring always watching them but anything is better than the recent 1 game a week we have had (which often featured the same team 2 weeks in a row anyway). As a western conference man it is a bit disappointing they don't have more west and cross conference games on that schedule but at least there are some.

There is one major mistake ESPN have made. The games advertised are incorrect by 24 hours, ie Friday 30th OCT 2.30AM is actually Saturday, and so on, & so forth apart from where the game is advertised as 15.00 "as live" for example. |

That's common and been done for years by whoever has shown NBA (especially NASN). They tend to put the day it happens stateside, so of course for anything starting 7.00pm Eastern onwards, check it carefully. |

I was asked the following question by a friend and I thought as I don't have ESPN, I'd ask on here. A mate noticed you can subscribe to ESPN via freeview and wanted to know if the NBA will be shown that ESPN channel, as they don't want to get Sky or cable. |

Yeah its to do with the way broadcasters work! They don't think its wrong cause it is how they work. Channels don't work to the same clocks we do they work to their schedule which could be 6-6 or 12-12 etc. This is never communicated well to the 'outside' world... I think this isn't the case with espn.co.uk but often is with american sports listings. This from the website, you need a Freeview set-top box with card slot, or digital TV with card slot. You can then subscribe to ESPN by calling Top Up TV. Or buy a Cam (conditional access module) from your local electrical retailer, or get one for free when you subscribe to ESPN for 12 months from Top Up TV. |

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but exactly when can we see the 1st game on ESPN?? Tried to find it in the listings.....is it live on the Wednesday night??....as live on the Thursday afternoon?? What about the 1st airing of NBA fastbreak and NBA Action?-It'll be great having the top 10 plays of the week back again, got a vhs full of them from one season back in the early 90's! The series link on Sky+ will take care of everything, just need the 1st shows. Thanks very much. |

If you look you'll see that the SD & HD channels run in parallel. They don't have different schedules. If it is a SD feed it'll be upscaled for HD and if it is a HD Live event etc it'll be down scaled for the SD channel... LOL @tonygsmart "vhs full of them from one season back in the early 90's!" I have loads too even 35 secs a day of World Sport on CNN trying to make my own highlight tapes for the summers without bball on tv... oh the pain we went through... |

sorry if this was explained before but I wasn't really interested then but need to know now - does Sky have the ESPN channels as part of the standard package or do you have to pay extra? If so does it come in the sky sports bundle or a separate package? |

Sam you have to pay extra - another tenner a month on top of Sky Sports. Which is £18 a month on top of your basic package. Which is £17 +£1 per month for each additional 'value pack'. And since if I change my package I lose my 1/2 price sports package, which runs for another 3 months, I'm not upgrading yet. How dumb is that from them? Edited by JimW, Oct 27 2009, 12:52 AM.

Thats pretty bad considering its a free channel on Virgin (i think?). So you can't get ESPN without having Sky Sports? I think league pass is probably a better option in that case. |

basically i would look at it like this.. if you have sky hd, then i would get espn because the opportunity to watch the nba in hd is not something to be missed. But if you have normal sky then I'd just stick with league pass. |
