As my D4 team had the weekend off I'm in D3 this weekend

Bradford Dragons (missing Vance Silcott on holiday and Krzystof Kalinowsk injured) were impressive in demolishing Tyne Met Trojans (who turned up with only 6 players) 112-63 with Sean James leading the way

How did your team fare?

Arrows lost to leicester 98 -84. I honestly think this score slightly flatters Leicester. Yes they were the better team and probably deserved to win but the difference between the two was not that much. Arrows were without their overseas player, and their most experienced player, captain and talisman Sam Spare missed about half the game with a split lip that wouldn't stop bleeding!!! That said Leicester have a good mix in experience with for example the high scoring Spatcher, good size size with Raynoso and Tyler ? along with some real athletes and I'm sure will cause some shocks along the way. Arrows played some good team ball with Fadoul, Murray and Kidder particularly catching the eye and i'm sure there's much more to come from this young team. Also should mention Andrew Purnell who probably played his most minutes in about 4 years due to injuries and is sure to be a big influence as he builds his fitness.
Also saw the Sabres overcome a very well drilled Loughborough in Div 3. Sabres are stacked and very good to watch. Young former Arrows guard John Kelly was very influential and the experience of the likes of Pete Scantlebury and Richard Windle added to the workhorses of the team such as Brad and Josh Wilson makes Sabres a real force to be reckoned with.
For you 'oldies' like me here today at the EIS were former BBL stars Scantlebury, Windle, Rankine, Martin Ford and Karl Brown. On top of that I think Mark Spatcher played for Towers plus I saw Garnet Gayle and Dave Attwell were in the crowd!!! Heaven!!!

Bradford Maroons played well for 3 and a half quarters before going down 87-70 to Sheffield Saints today

Maroons were led by 32 from the ever reliable Dut Malek while Saints sealed the win thanks to some accurate shooting from beyond the arc thanks to Kingsley Ellmer and ex Maroon Ben Cepulis

As the Reading fans all appear to have forgetten their login details, I'll mention it was Leopards 56 Rockets 45 - a defensive slog really only lit up by Carl Latham-Henry who finished with three-from-three outside the arc on the way to 21 points.
It was the lowest scoring game in 15 years of Leopards basketball, and Reading's score was the second lowest amount of points Leopards have conceded in a game.
Both teams have a lot of work to do.

It's hard not to feel sympathy for Reading; they've lost an excellent coach in Titmuss and two really key players in Watts and Smith- anybody know why he couldn't get a visa?

It's hardly the ideal way to prepare for the defence of their title, not to mention their remarkable perfect season last year. :headshake

It's disappointing that the rivalry between Reading and Manchester doesn't look like being as intense this year... here's hoping I'm speaking too soon! :pray

Encouraging result for Manchester Magic 2 (D3) who managed a 46 : 58 away win against City of Nottingham Tribe.

Good energetic game between two young teams, particularly Magic, who are using only the U18 team this season.

We lose players every year, it happens. I hope things get sorted though, or this season could be quite dull.
