Sadly another poor Worcester Wolves performance. Not the first home game of the season Coach Chuck had hoped for and to quote Chuck's program notes 'a stern test' which we failed on all fronts! Nice turn out and good atomsphere for the first home game and nice to see 30+ Sharks supporters made the trip South. The Good: Skouson, (I know he's like marmite, you either love or hate him! I like him and marmite) put in a solid performance, a true warrior. Evaldas Zabas, good first home game, managed to contain Patton when guarding him, tasty from the outside and has the ability to attack the basket. Easily the Wolves MVP of the night and a future fan favourite in the making. The Bad: Coach Chuck's slow reaction to take Anthony Martin off Ryan Patton. And a note to Ant Martin when guarding Ryan Patton you need to be in his face! Kenny and Chey, the Wolves faithful demand more than 3/4 minutes of basketball per game! The Ugly: Harry Disy, not sure if cutting his hair has lead to the samson affect, but definatley wasn't the Harry of last season. On a plus side it was nice to see the Uni guys getting some playing time and well done for Roy Owen getting on the score sheet. The Sharks showed Worcester a nice masterclass in team basketball, run by a good floor general. Patton easily MVP IMO, but Mike Cook looks like a great pick. Hopefully todays away game at Cheshire wil be better!! |

A few 'highlights' from an otherwise disappointing performance by Wolves (sorry about the 'paws' part way through): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZE30u8rPPA Agree with all of WorcesterExiles comments. After 2 games Zabas has as many points as the two Americans have between them. Neither looks like they are capable of dominating a game or scoring 30 points. Was Randy George missing last night through injury? He was easily our best player last week at Lions. On a positive note - good atmosphere right to the end (despite the scoreline), good quality programme, nice touch involving the school children at the start and Wolfie was as entertaining (and annoying) as ever. Shame about the basketball. |

WELL.....what can we say...... It the same story......OLD NEWS !!! i have never seen a Wolves Start in the BBL where we look like a team with any confidence, it does not help the fact we seem to thrive on changing every level of the managment at the club from coach to the starting five..... every year.......yes granted we kept a very good player in Harker and maybe Harry, but these guys have got to do it all again in terms of getting to know the set plays and the rookies style of playing in the team...and this is where we struggle, it takes half a season before we start to see any positive results in terms of a good team win where we beat another team who played well too, rather a win from another team poor showing. Dont get me wrong we have a good team of players and an excellent coach in Chuck, but somebody put lead in the boot of the high performance........ferrari, and it takes a good chunk of the season before it found and the rest of the season to try and tune it before we run out of games to see it efforts...and then what do we do......we do it all again the following season!!!! the pattern is to common and very noticeable to the fans of Wolves and basketball.......like i said before OLD NEWS!!!!! on the bright side we fans have always turned out well and and given a good friendly atmosphere...... even Dave on the drums is bashing harder every year........so has anyone found the LEAD yet ???????? Worcesterwolfie come on you Wolves!!!! |

what a long and ugly game by the wolves, the defense was bad,the offense was bad,how many times are we ganna make one or 2 passes and then take a shot, there is no ball movement and no communication.evaldes had a great game but we are already down 30 and really doesnt look to pass unless he can't shoot, kenny got into early foul trouble and had to sit therefore never was really in the game, chey struggled with his shot for the whole night, martin as mentioned earlier in a post stating he did a bad job on patton, but if u was reeally watching patton didn't really start scoring till martin was off him.skouson still seems to be playing to get numbers and not wins as he scored 16 but aloud todd cauthron to score 18.harry struggled against a taller team, randy george as i heard wa sick an had to be rushed to the hospital 2 hrs before the game, vidmantis played well for the most part.hopefully the begin to mesh an grow as a team and learn how to win instead of just trying to score everytime someone touches the ball. |
