Dis jointed performance from Lions who were simply pulled apart in the 2nd half by Rocks due to far better ball movement and defence. First half was very even and the lead changed on many occasions and it was closer than the 8 point margin suggested. Yorick continued where he left off from Jets on Sunday. Dru did a superb job on Sapp, limiting him to a mere 2 points in the half. Yanders and Parrilion who came on and scored two quick thress were Rocks main danger. By the end of the half Lions had used 10 of their 11 players, Rocks had used 6 of their 8. Second half and everything changed, Lions ball movement was stifled, yet Rocks were constantly finding the open man. Sapp scored some decent points, yet his most effective moment of the game was early in the 4th when he bundled Yorick into the hoardings after another successful 3 point shot. Yorick hurt his ankle and never saw court time again, and Lions lost concentration at both ends of the court. As Rocks started to rattle up the score, so some of Lions younger heads started to go down and it was a comfortable win in the end. A bad half day at the office and we desperately need EJ to arrive to lead the team and be there to make the right decisions. Good points for the future were that Lions yet again had all 11 players getting minutes and this can only be really good for the club as the season progresses. I thought the coaching was OK, although Frank was sat down for far too long. Players Ishmael and Max got limited minutes but both showed promise. Max defence was good. Craig- I think he will prove very valuable, can shoot inside and outside, seems unafraid of anyone or anyones reputation. Guy- One slightly messy dunk which still brought the crowd to it's feet. Thought he defended Yanders well when he was marking him IG- His poorest game for Lions to date and his head seemed to drop after making a couple of mistakes. Needed to be talked to at that point and assured that he was OK and not to worry. Plenty of potential and will give really valuable minutes to Lions. Dawud- Still finding his feet and not very comfortable playing the point. Athletic and willing, thought his defence was lacking tonight. I'm sure there is far more to come and that will coincide with EJ's arrival Dru- Simply superb defensively and did a decent job at PG but that's not his natural position and it shows sometimes. Gave every ounce of effort as always. Robert- Not as animated as usual tonight but had one great inside pass to DRU and contributed effectively to the points total. Amazingly only on 1 foul and that was with less than 10 seconds to go. Frank- I think he could prove to be the signing of the season. Has everything you could want from a centre. Mike- Fought hard inside and got very little from the refs. I can understand why Vince played him so much in the last quarter as we needed the experience, but I think it was a little too long. Yorick- Excellent again and if he had not been injured the game would have been a lot closer. We missed his defensive intensity and know-how and his points. Would have easily been top scorer if he could have continued. Ref Watch- Poor- yes we would have lost anyway, but it was poor. I doubt Bolt called more than 2 things in our favour all evening. Hayden made two or three poor calls on Rocks which seemed to me to be make-up calls but do two wrongs really make a right? Gavin Williams was shocking and I question whether he is really up to officiating at this level. Oh and Gavin, if you make poor calls in future games, I'm still likely to call you a muppet- will you still give me the V sign??? Unprofessional in the extreme! |

Should add that if Rocks stay fit they will do well, however they only have 6 players, the two other bench guys are garbage minute players only. Do a job on Yanders and they will struggle. |

Yeh the younger ref (StP knows names - i dont) decided that he would do the classic 'v-sign while pretending to rub my face' trick. Very classy stuff! It was difficult to say who specifically he was doing it to, (my guess was StP LOL) but it was aimed towards the Lions fans who were expressing their displeasure at his sheer inability to ref a basketball game without allowing personal views or personal grudges to cloud his decision making or lack thereof. |

I saw the kind gesture also. So did a mum next to me as she even said "refs cant do that, Swearing at my child". I dont think it was aimed at her child but like already said, all lions fans. That man has issues. |

Was Copeland playing last night? He was carrying an injury last week which limited his minutes I think. No stats up so I don't know what he did for us yesterday. You're right about needing another player or two. We lost our C just before the start of the season - a small bench was part of our faltering performance last year. Sounds like a good game, anyway. |

I think the BBL need to be made aware of refs swearing at fans? |
