With the regular season less than a few days away, Team Birmingham are pleased to announce that they have secured sponsorship deals with Top Notch Gyms, Yardley Travel, LA Fitness and The Brick Merchant. The team have also secured a slot on the Tom Ross show on BRMB as well as a slot on BBC Radio WM. Top Notch have been instrumental in helping the team prepare for the forthcoming season and they will be the centre of all the training plans for the Scholarship players. Yardley Travel are providing a 52 seater coach for all the away games and the team hope to take spectators to support the team. LA Fitness will be the base for the Fitness Centre for the whole squad, including the players that live in North Wales, and all the fitness camps and clinics will be held there. The Brick Merchant are our principle sponsors and they have provided enough funding for coaching and administrative support for the team for the next 3 years. On November 1st 2009, Team Birmingham will officially launch their online sportswear shop with all the profits going directly to the club. "We're trying to ensure that the club is self sustaining and here for the long term" said Commercial Manager Sarah Jones The team has also added twitter.com/BhamBullets, youtube.com/birminghambullets as well as having a facebook.com/teambirmingham profile. The team has also returned to the Aston Villa Leisure Centre (Aston Arena), where they will hold all home games, camps and clinics. When asked about the forfeiting of the two cup games, Coach Williams said "It's a combination of errors between EB and myself which has been resolved and both parties have admitted the errors on their part and we've improved communication". Asked if there were any problems regarding the roster, Coach Williams added "Not at all, the problem we had was my lack of admin skills and taking my eye of the admin ball. We went to Team Gloster and played in a great game losing by 8 points but using 7 new players". So with the first game in a few days time at Kings Lynn, it remains to be seen if the Bullets revival has started. Edited by thesportsagent, Oct 6 2009, 03:46 PM.

How about posting the fixtures etc. on here - it may attract some passing fans that can't be bothered to dig around in the depths of the EB website? Since games are going to be in Aston you've got every reason to promote them... |

I'm so confused- is it Birmingham Bullets or Team Birmingham??? Or perhaps it's not me that's confused but the people who supposedly run the club!! Can they even call themselves Birmingham Bullets without paying Bown some money? Or Bown allowing them to do it for free- which I very much doubt!! When the people running the club don't even know their name, what chance is there for even the simplest admin procedures to be completed?? |

Bown put the Bullets into administration (check with all the players who his collapsed organisation who are owed money) so I can imagine he owns the name. Perhaps the BBL do. Anyhow, all the teething troubles to one side, I do hope the team make a success of things. It would be nice to have some basketball with ambition back in Brum, rather than someone whose soul ambition was to screw as much money out of everyone as possible. |

Good point, thanks for bringing it up and I'd like to clarify the position. EB wouldn't allow the name Birmingham Bullets to be used in competition, so the owners of the team formed Birmingham Bullets Ltd and, for the purposes of league competition, compete as Team Birmingham. All our marketing etc is under the Team Birmingham Bullets brand name. Many thanks for bringing it to our attention, that's sincere, and if there are any further constructive points anyone would like to raise, we'd be more than happy to help. Hi Mark, the BBL own the franchise name Birmingham Bullets but it only extends to the BBL and doesn't cover NBL or any other competitions. The Birmingham Bullets name is now in the hands of Birmingham Bullets Ltd and the company has plans to expand the brand name into other sports and open specialist academies in golf, rugby, swimming and track & field. Birmingham Bullets Ltd is a non profit making venture and all profits are ploughed directly back in to the club for court hire, tournament fees etc. Any players who are selected to play for GB, England, Scotland or Wales at any age group have all their expenses paid for out of club funds and this includes accommodation, travel, food allowance whilst on international duty. Players invited to attend recruitment sessions outside the UK also have their travel costs paid by the club, in line with retaining their amateur status. None of the Shareholders, Directors of the Company, coaches, players or staff receive any form of "Benefit in Kind" using club funds. If there's anything else I can help you with, please ask away. |

I think they mentioned their sponsors at the beginning of this thread. And I just realised I used the word "soul" when I meant "Sole" earlier in this thread, which was grammatically incorrect, and also incorrect in reference to Craig Bown - who we all know doesn't have one. |

I shall be attending the first home game this Sunday and am wondering who else may be going? I can guess there will be maybe 10-20 off this forum but am concerned at the fact there's been no mention in the Evening mail etc. Unfortunately that means that no-one is going to turn up and I feel sorry for the team and management as I think its going to be an awful turn out. Sports Agent-Have you tried getting a small piece put in the Evening Mail? Or are you relying on the Whatsbev audience to turn up to the games mate? |

Colin Tattum at the Birmingham Mail has always been a wonderful supporter of basketball in Birmingham. The massive coverage the Bullets got back in the 90s and early 2000s is down to him. He even loyally turned up to Panthers games, often trekking back from Blues games. I'm sure if Team Birmingham got in contact with him he would respond. |

I'm grateful for the clarification re the Bullets name - I suppose it makes sense that the BBL owns that for their competition at least. mark is correct about Colin - it's easy to get him as he is a registered user on this site and has always responded to PM's from me in the past. Even when it was about the agony of the Panthers! |

I for one will be turning out tomorrow to the AVLC, not quite sure what to expect, but after attending most of the Panthers home games, small crowds won't be an issue ! Hope to see the "usual suspects" down there, provided the Express Way hasn't crumbled, the roof hasn't leaked, and the promotional floor stickers don't come up ! Ah, the good old days .... BTW Anyone know if there'll be a charge for parking ? Rob |

I think the score was 76-102, Coalville dominating most of the game. Don't quote me on the score, it was a little difficult to see the scoreboard from behind the table when it's facing onto court ! I'm still wondering what to make of it, the players showed their lack of practice together, and there was a fair amount of wandering about on D, marking often slack with Coalville taking full advantage. Birmingham didn't seem to lack any fitness, and rallied in the 3rd and 4th, but by then the damage was done. Bullets coach got ejected for two technicals, which did seem a little harsh to my mind, given what Coaches get away with at BBL games ! Debating whether to go to the next game, apparently the Bullets/Team B staff were mucked about and didn't get access to the hall (sorry Aston Arena!) until approx 3pm for a 5pm tipoff, when we arrived at 4.30pm, the Arena security bloke mumbled something about "...they're sorting something out for spectators" which kinda made me think they weren't expecting any ! The hall was setup for five-a-side pitches (which according to the sign outside, sessions takes place on a Thursday!), none of the pullout seating was out, there were no chairs when we got in, and it took a good ten minutes for anyone to find any. Ok, so it was only £2 to get in, and I'm sure (I hope !) that next time they'll be better organised, and I didn't expect the "Bullets at their BBL height" type experience, but I can remember West Mids Div 6 games (when there was one !) with more organisation and atmosphere. Oh yeah, and thanks to the bloke that told me about my flat tyre, I'd have missed that in the dark ! |

Not mentionaing any names but there's a few people on this forum that Id have expected to at least turn up to the game but failed to attend. It makes me wonder, all this moaning that there's no team and then nobody turns up anyway. Yes it was poorly organised, the team were rather poor and only 30-40people were there but at least they're TRYING! Noticed Herman Wilson watched the game, both him and Stephen Barnes seemed to find the Nesbitt airballs rather amusing!! If Im honest I thought the whole team lacked any type of actual "game" on both offense and defense. The players lacked discipline and sulked whenever they were subbed and I saw no potential players that will ever earn a scholarship!!! Lets hope they learn from mistakes and improve as they hopefully move through the EBL and up to the BBL. What the sponsorship money gets spent on I'll never know cos the kits were awfull, maybe a £5 from JD at most and we had to sit on school style chairs behind the scoreboard! Cant promise I'll go to the next game as it was very poorly run and I see no potential from any of the players, except maybe a couple of the PG's. But I have that choice as I at least gave it a chance and turned up to the first game. . . . . unlike many others! I think the score was 74-101, not positive either though!!! |

That's where you were going wrong. There's plenty of people on here that talk a good game, but don't actually go to any. But having said that, there was never going to be a huge queue to watch Division Four basketball, and despite the claims they are the not hte second coming of the Bullets. And, from Ford's comments, if people had gone expecting some kind of game-night experience, they'd have been pretty disappointed. Having a scoreboard that paying spectators can see is a must, as is having somewhere for them to sit. Instead of OTT press releases and outlandish claims (which extended to the team name), Team Birmingham would have been better getting the fundamentals sorted out first, |

74-101 in D4 does not sound like a team going places. Having watched a lot of D3, and assuming D4 is a lower standard, I would suggest that COB U18s would give them a good game. If you want to watch that level of basketball COB have been around over recent years and its free! |

I'm surprised that nobody hasn't mentioned the arena lighting or rather, lack of. How the refs allowed an official game to be played in the dark is beyond me. The 'coach', and I use that term loosely, talked up the game on local radio as a Birmingham Bullets v Leicester Riders re-match! As my old mate Hersey has already mentioned, Team Birmingham should perhaps concentrate on getting the basics sorted out. They certainly didn't do anything to win over the spectators at the first game. Edited by Fat Wallet, Oct 12 2009, 09:43 PM.
