The U19 National Colleges/ Schools Academy Cup competitions got underway this week with the first matches in the BCS Elite National League Regional Divisions. Full results and tables can be found at FixturesLive. In the West Division, the new Birmingham Met College registered a comprehensive 78/42 win over Solihull 6th Form while way out west Richard Huish College (RHC) overcame Truro 54/50. Only one result in the North Div so far with Tyne Met edging past Blackpool 6th Form 89/81 on the road. Other matches scheduled for this week included Loreto v Runshaw and CNC v Stockport but no scores as yet. The East Div saw Bedford beat Derby 84/74 and no result published yet for Moulton v SEEC. The pick of the day's matches saw a repeat of last season's Elite National League Final with Milton Keynes travelling to HCCA. A tight match was broken open in the 3rd Q as HCCA extended a 5pt half-time lead to double figures and kept MK at arm's length down the stretch to take a 78/66 win. No results yet from the SE Division. This looks the weakest of the four groups on paper. The new England Basketball U19 Cup fixtures for men and women are also scheduled to start this month. The Academy Cup and U19 Schools Cup have been combined to create what looks like a monster set of fixtures at the group stages. It's a real shame that this new structure seems to be a backward step in terms of there being no separation between the elite and recreational programmes which is no good for anyone....a subject that's been discussed at length over the years. Let's hope the new team at EB (taken over from ESBBA) learn the lesson after one season and make the changes BCS have put in place over the last couple of years to get like playing like. Please publish any results and match reports for U19 Cups/League (men and women) in this thread. |

A few more BCS National League results trickling through. Two results from the SE Division where Uxbridge College beat Worthing College on the road 72/61 and BHSVIC(Brighton) saw off Coulsden College 90/73. Brighton won the BCS Regional Cup last year to earn the right to move into the Elite League while Steve Bucknell's Coulsden College Academy side made the BCS Elite Cup Final 4s where they gave eventual winners Sutton Coldfield a run for their money. HCCA went 2/0 in the East Div with an 87/73 away at SEEC (Southend). Hopefully, more results will be posted on BCS/FixturesLive website tomorrow. In the meantime, any results and match reports from any U19 Schools/Colleges matches would be much appreciated as always. For example, any news from the North Div where Loreto, CNC, Runshaw and Stockport are in action? |

Loreto beat Stockport today, don't know the score, but it was a gap of about 30 points. It promises to be a strong Loreto squad this year with the addition of more Magic U18 boys attending the college |

Finally, a few more BCS National League results to report. Looks like most College organisers are getting to grips with entering their own results on Fixtureslive although there are still plenty of gaps. HCCA went 3/0 to top the East Div following a 108/42 win at Bedford. George Monoux registered their first win beating Bedford 98/68 last week whilst Moulton made it 0/4 for Bedford with a 20pt win in early October (a result that's not yet on the system). SEEC currently hold the 2nd qulifying spot following wins over Derby and Monoux although curiously they have also registered a win over Moulton by exactly the same score as they beat Monoux so I expect an error here. I don't think the SEEC v Moulton match has taken place yet. Birmingham Met top the West Div but a 1-1 draw has been logged v Worcester. Can anyone explain what that's all about? North Div currently has Tyne Met in 1st place going 2/0 following a walkover v Stockport. Plenty of results still missing here. Finally, although containing the weakest teams of the 4 Divs, the SE group seems to be producing some of the best match-ups. Uxbridge top the Div going 2/0 following an 84/83 win over Kingston who in turn hold 2nd spot after a 66/63 win over canterbury. More results and any match reports always welcome. Also, any results from the regional rounds of the new EB U19 comp ( replacing the ESBBA ones)? |

If you're waiting for result updates from the old ESBBA site, forget it! Everything SHOULD be administered by EB. That said, a message went out a couple of weeks back telling teams to log results with the Regional Coordinators. In London these are the same as last year. Personally, I'm finding the whole EB competition fixtures far more difficult to get to grips with this year, particularly when trying to organise the U19 Women's matches. Women's teams at U19 level seem to be extremely thin on the ground this year which is a real worry for the future. SESSA League has 4 teams, BCS Premier East the same with 2 teams (HCCA and Oaklands) duplicating with SESSA. Chadwell Heath U19 Women have withdrawn from the EB London NE group. Going back to BCS Nat league results, apologies to Bedford who are actually 1/4 having beaten Derby in their first match. Derby look like the weakest team in the East Div. Runshaw have gone to the top of the North Div with an 85/41 win over Stockport. Loreto have just one result (a win over Runshaw) logged but I'm certain they've won all their matches so far. |

I got in touch with EB regaring U19 competition and when would the fixtures be shown. I was told individual school coaches were sent fixtures and that it was up to them to arrange the dates. I would have at least hoped to know who was playing who even if no dates! Not sure whether they're going to publish the results? |

Please remind the Loreto organisers they need to load the results on FixturesLive. BCS should have sent them an administrators log-in number and password. Either team involved in the match can log the score which immediately updates the league table. |

An update on the BCS National League Regional Divisions so far: West - Birmingham Mets are 3/0 after a 95/44 win on the road at local rivals Solihull 6th. A bad couple of weeks for Solihull who made the long trip to Truro and ended up on the wrong end of a 1pt loss (81/80). Birmingham and RHC (Taunton) top the group and both remain unbeaten. North - Plenty of outstanding results unlogged by teams on the FixturesLive website. Tyne Met are officially 3/0 following a 95/81 win over Blackpool 6th. Loreto still only have 1 result logged. South - Uxbridge stay top but little else to report East - HCCA stay top 4/0 despite not playing this week. MK postponed due to a SESSA League fixture clash. MK managed a 88/86 win on the road at Moulton the previous week. SEEC stay second 4/1, although I actually think they're 3/1. A result has been logged v Moulton that is probably in error as I don't think the match took place. Derby managed their first win of the season this week with a 73/53 win over Bedford. It's the BCS East Region Women's Tournament next Wednesday. This is the 10 min match format. Winners go forward to represent the East at the National Finals (Loughborough/Nottingham) next April. |

As far as I know in the northern elite, Loreto are 3/0, cardinal Newman are 3/0 with two wins over Stockport and a narrow win over Runshaw, Tyne met are 3/0 beating Blackpool twice and a walkover against Stockport, Runshaw are 2/2 beating Stockport and Blackpool by 40ish losing to loreto by 21 and Newman by 2, Stockport are 0/3 as are Blackpool and Childwall are yet to play..... From what I've seen of the north so far it will finish 1. Loreto 2. Runshaw 3. Newman 4. Tyne Met 5. Stockport 6. Blackpool 7. Childwall... Would be nice to see organisers calling in results but there you go! Hope this is of use. |
