Here we go at last. Nice easy start Eagles away but you never know. The Jets squad have been together for a few weeks (in the case of Shawn, James, Calvin and the returning Simmo a few years now!!!) so perhaps this is the best time to go to the North East. Lions on Sunday could be the best bet to measure ourselves against BBL standards, reading the Lions website they are not certain if Harrison is going to be in the country, probably sitting in the departure lounge next to big Frank waiting for his visa to come through. Hoping for a winning season |

well chapman only made two two point shots (neither of which were travels) and he certainly didnt walk on any of his 4 catch and shoot three pointers. Calvins injury : I noticed that some chester fans were upset about the time but they were wrong. The eagles scored a basket at the end of the third and the clock does not stop on a made basket unless its the end of the second or the fourth. The clocks stops only when the ref blows the whistle which it did. The basket was scored with 7 seconds to go, the whistle blew when it was clear the injury was serious with about 5. Blame the rules (if I was harsh I would say learn them first) but not the refs. fabs clock query was in relation to a wrongly reset shot clock by the table. The ball did not hit the rim, the table thought it had and reset and the refs told them that it hadnt so ran the shot clock down to 11. Its common, not unusual and on all of the above Paul Smith did not issue a word of complaint. i am afraid the rest of the post I cant translate. |

Newcastle but Paul Smith didnt think there was much wrong either and he lost! A good game played in good spirit with little dissention from either team. But then again I was there. |

But then again I was there Bit harsh. It's a long way up there.Normally I'd travel but wasn't able to due to work. We all have our respective blinkers on and see what we want too see and at the same time believe what we've seen is the indisputable truth. It was always thus!!!

we are always wrong, i was also there as i was last year and i seem to remember this conversation last year and i was told that the reason for all the bad calls were because cal and james were to old and reaching in all the time, a few weeks later because some refs had the audacity to make some bad calls against eagles everyone was up in arms rest my case |

when? Which game are you talking about? Be specific because I only saw 2 badly reffed games all of last year and both of them the Eagles won. Secondly I have explained why your complaints are unfounded and criticisms of the refs are unfair. Do you retract any of them? |

What goes around, comes around and whatever injustices were served up to Jets against Eagles were easily made up for this evening!! In my humble opinion, obviously!! |

just a small point, since when did the clock stop on a basket in the 2nd quarter? |

Got to agree with Pat from a neutral point of view that both teams were hit with some pretty bad calls but Lions got a few more. By far the worse one was whilst Jets had the ball Myers totally floored a Lions player and the call was given as a defensive foul. Also very inconsitent with regards what constitutes a charge. This isn't a blinkered view at all - the only thing I was rooting for was a close competative game - and the fouth quarter was just great to watch. Jets were worthy winners in the end despite James Hamiltons best efforts to throw the game away - not sure why he lost his cool for the T as the Jets had just got away with at least two 'in the act of shooting' fouls on the defensive end. That said and to be fair to James he is looking fitter and better than I have seen him for some years. If he maintains that form and fitness he will surely be repaying the faith Paul Smith has put in him giving him another year. Great game and appreciate both sets of fans will have a blinkered view but if we are bringing the refs into it only Lions fans have cause for complaints and even then I think the cause of the loss was poor team offense in the first half rather than anything the MIO did. |

Mayor- you probably wouldn't have seen but apparently Lions only had 15 turn-overs in the whole game!! And Frank Holmes only had 9 rebounds all game!!!- he had at least 7 in the first 5 minutes! Mind you the wonderous Jets stats man missed allocating 29!!! rebounds in total during the game. I suggest new glasses are bought for the stats people. |

15!!!! I am guessing most of those were in the first half. Second half saw much better team offense from MK - so I could believe that if it was say 11 & 4. 29 Boards unallocated - that leave some pretty p'ed off big men. Perhaps the dazzling effects of the ref's new kits could be to blame! Edited by The Mayor, Sep 28 2009, 01:07 PM.

15 turnovers! That's impressive Pat. Mind you, from my memory of seeing Jets' stats of the game against Newcastle on Friday, Jets only had 10 turnovers. It would seem there is some commonality - both teams are capable of losing when they are looking after the ball! |

I wasn't suggesting it was impressive- simply difficult to believe given the amount of times we turned the ball over in the 1st half. |

Widebodiedjet you are right. The clock only stops after a basket in the last 2 minutes of a game. It will stop in last 2 of 4th quarter and any periods of overtime. The only other time the clock would stop after a basket in the rest of the game is if the side conceding the basket has requested a time out. (Also a correctable error would enable the table to stop the clock but those occasions are rare) |

I stand corrected. Thanks. The Calvin injury was the end of the third though so the point remains. |
