Spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the LSBU Brixton Topcats Invitational Tournament earlier today, Brixton Rec. It was a very busy but highly successful day for London Met Uni as they played back-to-back matches at 10pm and 12noon.

In the first match, London Met beat Leeds Carrnegie 77/66. Jean Wakanena top scored with 20, Dave Ajumobi sank 17 while Courtney Van-Beest drained 11pts. After a month without as much picking up a ball since leaving MK Lions, Eddie Morrison put in a solid performance and hit 6pts. Former Hackney White Heat and HCCA/London Met players Ladi Brown and Albert Margai both hit 13pts for Leeds backed up by 10pts from Fenyn.

Straight after, London Met tipped off against BBL new boys Essex Pirates. The first half was all London Mets as they led 50/29 at the break in a match heavily punctuated by foul calls. Alan Metcalf picked up 4 in the first Q!!!. The 3rd q saw Pirates make a very small dent in Met's lead. However, as foul trouble and fatigue set in, Pirates saw their big chance and blitzed the 4th 26/11 taking the lead down the stretch. However, Mets showed great resiliance and had 2 shots from the line to win the match, hitting just 1 to take the match to OT at 77each. A gruelling final 5mins saw Mets sneak home 85/83. Mets held a 5pt lead going into the final play and Pirates hit a trey on the buzzer to make it a 2pt game.

Sol Ayinla's boys were led by an outstanding performance from Samuel Toluwese with 26pts, with great support from Obanje 13pts and Jeff Danchie 12pts. Deng chipped in with 8pts while Dave Ajumobi (4pts) and Jean Wakanena (5pts) helped close the match out. Pirates were led by Taner Adu with 20pts and capt Dean Williams with 18pts. GB U20 product Colin Sing from Liverpool hit 8pts and Walid Mumuni chipped in with 6pts.

Fantastic to see the London Met squad made up almost entirely of past and present HCCA players, White Heat products all under 25 and the majority under 21 with a couple of Barking Abbey graduates thrown in for good measure. The team line-ups were as follows:

Leeds Carnegie: R Reid, Z Supola, D Siddal, J Fitzpatrick, Albert Margai, Connor, Gent, M Smith, T Ward, Hylands, Fenyn, Ladi Brown

London Met v Leeds: Josh Johnson, Jean Wakanena, Eddie Morrison, Courtney Van Beest, J Oladinija, B. Adeluola, Mike Odomusu, John Odomusu, Dave Ajumobi, Jordan Parrish, A Westgarth, E Obanye

London Met v Pirates: Tom Hughes, B Adeluola, Faruq Bilal, Jeff Danchie, Jamal Lewis, Arturo Noha, Courtney Van Beest, Deng, Wayne Yeboah, E Obanye, Samuel Toluwase, Jean Wakanena, Dave Ajumobi, Mike Odomusu

Essex Pirates: Colin Sing, J Mathews, P Rodrigo, Walid Mumuni, A Wallace, J Clark, Dean Williams, J Anderson, Simon Emerson, Alan Metcalf. Coaches Tim Lewis and Graham Wilson.

London Met take on LSBU Brixton Topcats tomorrow at 11am.

London Mets beat LSBU Brixton Topcats 70/61 earlier today. I have no idea how the other matches went (Essex Pirates v Leeds, LSBU Brixton v Pirates, Leeds v LSBU Brixton) but presume London Mets won the tournament with a 3/0 record.

Don't answer this if you don't feel it's your place, but does anyone know why Morrison left Milton Keynes? More importantly why hasn't he picked up a ball for over a month? Has he quit the game all together? Just quit MK Lions? I'm just interested since he was a promising talent.

Morrison is listed as a Capital player in the information sent out by the BBL on Wednesday.
Read my Olympic blog here

Leopards - National Trophy winners 2013 - that'll complete the set

That was my idea
