Everyone says the standard of reffing has got worse lately anyway, so why not give these other guys a go? Who knows, they might not even comply with the star treatment policy and then we'll have real competition!!

Or they might be so enamoured with and intimidated by the 'stars' that it goes even further the way its been going.

Whats the record for most FTs attempted by a player in a single game? Wade or Lebron might beat it this year....

Only Sam could put a positive spin on this. The reason the replacement refs are not on the main list, is because they're not as goo. The NBA has never discouraged star treatment

I think the figure they're arguing over is $700,000. less than the minimum for oneveteran NBA player. Madness

Ok looking at this story I would like to retract my previous optimism. What a joke, this guy was probably working for the mob too (Donaghay did say there were definitely others involved) and now he's coming back. Great news for Laker fans though! :angel

As a frequent WNBA viewer I've seen several of the replacement guys in action, and this ain't going to be pretty. Marat Kogut, Kurt Walker and Michael Price jump out at me from the replacements list as absolute nightmares (I know at least one person who knew Kogut from rec leagues and was stunned when he got called up to the WNBA, let alone the real big leagues).

Only saving grace is that everyone already bitched about the guys we had, so now everyone'll just go on bitching about the new guys. In a lot of cases it's just going from one lot of sucking to another.
