We have our point guard; Sherrad Prezzie-Blue He looks like a good lad, enthusiastic and motivated. From press release: Worthing Thunder Basketball Club is pleased to announce their eighth signing ahead of the 2009/10 British Basketball League season, with news that Sherrad Prezzie-Blue is coming to join the team. The 22 year old 5'11" Connecticut native was the standout point guard at Division 3 College Wentworth Tech, averaging 17 points a game, making 40% of his three point attempts and 81% of his free throws for his four years there. Sherrad showed great loyalty to his coach by staying at Wentworth when other, bigger colleges came calling for him, which is part of the attraction for Thunder Operations Director Alan Sweetman-Hicks: "Coach Dave Titmuss is very big on loyalty and team togetherness, so the fact that Sherrad stayed loyal to his coach at college is a big plus for us. Whilst his route to the BBL has not followed the established route, we are convinced that he can play at this level and that his lightening speed and accurate 3 point shooting will make him a genuine threat in this league and his all round game will help those around him to reach their full potential." It will be interesting to see how he copes with the big step up in competition, but the 3 point line is the same distance and with our triangle of terror on the inside, all he has to do is run off picks and get open so they can pass the ball back out to him if there's nothing available inside. We desperately needed a good shooter and now we have one, so I like it!

Good job swiss. Sounds like Titmuss is confident Sherrad can make the step up to the BBL. Can't wait for the season to start now. |

Ville Makalainen is the latest international signing, direct from the Finnish national team! We have some real international flavour now, which is good as the European style is obviously very different to the American style of play so we'll get a bit of everything. I wonder how Coach T will combine the different styles and bring them together. Sam Cricelli rounds out the team - Im sure I've heard his name somewhere before. He's from Brighton but I recognise the surname! Anyway he sounds like a capable contributor too, not just the token local bench warmer, so from 1-10 with the roster we look pretty decent! |
