With Midge pulling out of the Squad for Eurobasket through injury do we think this makes a return more or less likely?

Not heard what the injury is or if it relates to his ongoing foot injury from last season. Hope he gets match fit again soon.

I was really looking forward to seeing him in Poland in a few weeks, with that now not happening I still have everything crossed that he is suited up in the Royal Blue Jersey come October.

If Everton are serious about being the best British basketball team, they cannot let him go. We all know there is an economic crisis, but Rich is, by a mile, the best UK guard in the BBL. His performance at the Finals Weekend was phenomenal

Maybe sheds more light on this. Still a bit of a surprise though

This was the original news about it - looks like he just called it a career.

David Stern's reasoned input is always worth a listen. There are good folk at NBA Europe who have been putting in the hours under, and above, the radar. Their strategy isn't perfect. It has its detractors. Yet at least, there is something being done. With last month's inaugural meeting of the All-Parliamentary Basketball Group, an initiative led by Stern's emissaries, the politicians have now been courted as never before.

continued reading articles and came to the piece in Britball re NBA in China (and UK) -

sorry Mark, have to take issue with this one. The "inaugural meeting of the All-Parliamentary Basketball Group" is in September, the recent meeting/presentation was organised BY the BBL and the NBA were invited BY the BBL who were indeed present where the BBL continued "courting" the politicians as they have been for a while. Give credit to the BBL instead who are organising/co-ordinating this and are working on raising the profile of basketball in the UK.

apologies for going off topic.

Having followed King Richard's career at Cal and in the BBL, I'd be very surprised if he hangs up the high tops after an injury this year. He's tough as nails and can still shoot the lights out.

The Bear will not quit, the Bear will not die.

I really hope you are right, not just in the hope that he plays for us again (which would be great) but in the bigger hope of seeing him play for GB again.

Midge silenced his critics (most of whom strangely have NE postcodes) with a Herculean performance in the BBL Final.

Hopefully this is one rumour that may not have legs.
