Manchester Magic & other top flight EBL1 teams will fight some BBL teams in the trophy next season.
Is this a taster season for the much debated rise into BBL?? :hmmm

Im sure it will appease some fans who have missed the excitment in the Manchester venue last season and hopefully draw back the crowds.

Reading and Leopards are also in

this time the Trophy has changed its format and gone to a straight 16 team knockout tournament

So in which ways is the trophy different to the cup now then? Stupid idea. The group stage was always a great idea and helped boost local rivalries.

Good to see Magic finally giving the BBL a go - if money is right and they can step up properly to the league next year that will be even better, but for EBL to get competitive again Reading could also do with stepping up, but I understand it may not be financially viable for them... :dunno

So as it is now a straight forward knock-out you have to hope your first round draw is a home one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAving EBL teams doesn't make it significantly different. The format remains the same if it's a straight knockout. Group stages created a different and more interesting format IMO. The cup used to have EBL teams in it back when the BBL still contested the original National Cup prize too, so it's nothing we haven't seen before.

I hope it comes true but I seem to recall reading a similar article at the same time of year every year for the last few years.

Yes, i definately read a similar article last year. Hopefully though this one will come to fruition. Manchester needs professional club & with the emphasis on British talent running upto 2012 & beyond i hope it pans out.

So it's Worthing at a neutral venue before the BBL cup final. What a crock... we'll have to pay £20 just to see Magic play a team they've played many times in the past. I was hoping for Chester or Everton away. Don't know if I'll even bother going, no interest in the BBL Cup Final whatsoever.

Well, it'll be largely a different roster of players this time round 33...anyway don't worry, it will all get re-arranged when we make the cup final. :daydream

I imagine the BBL wll offer Magic and Thunder fans a deal. I think they did with Riders & Wolves last season.
You should rest all of your players the night before :whistle

looking at who is staying and what we have left, can't imagine the rest will do any good at all. We were mediocre last season even though we finished 2nd in the league, next season will be interesting for all the wrong reasons!! :sick :nails
