OK so plenty of discussions about what we did last year and where we think we need to go but what about what the grapevine is telling us. Whispers, rumours and badly informed gossip ... that is what keeps us going through the summer. In true Everton tradition we are also looking for those mythical sightings of players spotted outside that cash machine in West Derby, whilst in town to clinch a move. This thread is for rumours and wild crazy speculation. It's summer time |

Oh our first genuine rumour and multiple sources no less! Yanders would be good, particularly Yanders with a UK Passport. Although not a rumour I have noticed Paez on the main BBL board ensuring everyone has his correct contact details. Personally would like to hope this potential 'come and get me' post finds its way to Tigers Towers. |

If Yanders comes............ does that mean that Bungalow Midgely will be looking for a chalet in Switzerland, a chateau in France, a finca in Spain or a pagoda in Japan! |

Midge's strength is his versatility and him and Yanders running the point and two spots between them would be a good option. Add to the Rumours Sanders from the Sharks. No inside knowledge or sightings outside the West Derby cash machine - just a post by Jukebox on the Milton Keynes board. So in one day that makes Yanders, Sanders (unless a typo is causing confusion) and Paez. |

Everton have made an offer to Chris Sanders. I sat next to him on BBL semi finals day at the NIA. So you could say it came straight from the horses mouth. whether he accepts it or not is another matter. |

Ok so we also know Chuck Evans will not be returning so more for us to mull over. Thanks for everything Chuck and look forward to you coming back to Greenbank next season Coach! May impact on Paez situation but still a strange post in the BBL board from somebody ensuring that everyone knows he has left his agent and that they can get in touch with him. Certainly keeping his options open and who can blame him. Edited by The Mayor, May 19 2009, 11:32 AM.

Chuck is a real gentleman and great role model for youngsters. On court he showed leadership and intelligence. Thanks for what you gave to the Tigers Chuck and good luck as coach (but hopefully not against Everton!!!) |

Just a question for you loyal Everton fans: Given the expectations of the club, and the budget/array of talent brought in last season, is there any doubt over Tony G's future as coach? In most of the key games against Eagles last year you came up worryingly short for a team with the likes of Midgely, Smith, Olu, Tony D, Gross and Bailey! Plus Tigers lost some other games that with that line-up you should not have. Then Tony himself admits to mistakes in recruiting!!!! There is a line that says with the budget at hand, recruiting could have been better, but that in any event the team recruited was capable of more than it delivered! I just wonder whether people may look at this, see that there are now other coaches with track records in the job market, and consider another change of leadership? As I say, just a teaser for the Tigers fans really, posed out of curiosity. |

To be honest, given what Tony G's said in interviews and whatever, (we'll build a team to haunt them), then the chances are he knows that he's got a job next year. Add the fact theres been offers on the table (Sanders) then it would seem he was the one that made it. I'd say he's got a job. Although, I would also say that I wasnt happy with some of his coaching last year, given the team he had, but ill save the rant. |

Tony is, to his credit, very honest and frank about any mistakes and short comings of the team this year and lets put in context that this was a very successful season - his level of self criticism and honesty should be applauded and if anything he took more of the blame in many instances than he deserved. Some of our recruiting was done or at least underway before he joined, he made changes to some of that with the cutting of Mr Magic. This was a team that consisted of many new faces and unknown quantities. Who had heard of Andre 12 months ago, who knew Marcus Bailey was fit to play again!? Josh Gross looked to be the marquee signing coming from the D League and although undoubtedly talented became frustrated and never really settled. Midge is class but had an injury for much of the close of the season (that is no excuse as Eagles lost L for most of it). Sure he made Coaching decisions some people may question but show me a coach that doesn't. Newcastle were the only team better than us and player for player I would not say we had more talent and their more settled squad would undoubtedly help. We pushed them in every competition and for a second year franchise I would say that is pretty darn good - the margin between the sides was slight. So I think Tony has more than proven his worth as a recruiter, a tactician and a motivator (more half time deficits overcome than anyone else). Tony has done a great job - we moved 7 places up the League won the cup and were runners up in the play offs. That is a massive improvement on 8th and no Silverware. If he continues to push us just a little further this close season then why would we want to see a different coach at the helm? |

Great to have some news. From that article I have taken the following Staying Put Chris Haslam (under contract) Negotiating Midge Olu JJ Departing Tony D (expected) Chuck (Worcester) Del Andre (expected) Josh (expected) Marcus Real shame about Marcus I would have liked to see him develop over another season here as I think he is a fantastic talent who as he gets back into peak condition could have really been a dominent force in this league. Del I am also sorry to see move on as he has been here two years and adds some defensive steel off the bench. Good luck to all those moving elsewhere and thank you for helping us lift our first peice of silverware. But a big rebuilding project none-the-less fingers crossed on Olu, JJ and the Midge - if we sign them up I will be a very happy blue. Tommy who from rival BBL clubs would you like to see us 'swoop' for? |

I'd like Sanders to play at 3, a decent American combo guard to share ball-carrying and shooting with RM (if he stays put) which will help spread the court a bit more, a clone of Andre for the 4 and a big athletic centre. I've not seen Garriba at the Caps but he put up some pretty decent numbers in a frankly awful team. |
