![]() www.steveleven.com There was quite a lot of discussion of Steve and how he is getting on in Holland in a couple of other threads so I started this to provide regular updates and have a thread where people can take any discussions involving him. The next few months will be important for Steve with the GB squad and also his club team. Steve has now played 10 games for the West Brabant Giants. Under some difficult conditions he has still managed 7.6pts in 15.8 minutes per game. In the win against Rotterdam last weekend Steve had 7pts in only 11 minutes. The team will play Hanzev tomorrow with a chance to move into the top 4 in the league. Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOBy_dxIk0o (Short clip from Steve's last game at Pezinok) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD9LosQdjKs (two 3 pointers in a row!! 0:28 to 0:41) Edited by gyan, Apr 17 2009, 11:25 PM.

yeah i think not the best circumstances personally for him. I have heard off acouple people he really goes after it in the off season or summer, so i am sure he will be fine. good to see that he is on the map though and on the radar as i have heard very little of many other guys in the GB squad. |

Well his team don't have a big roster so if there was an injury Steve would see a lot more minutes. I think because he signed quite late the rotations were already set. But if he doesn't get more playing time I can see the Giants losing him for next season because Steve could be a starter in Holland or elsewhere.

Well today Steve had a quiet game with no points in only 9 minutes but he helped his team defeat Groningen 74-64. The Giants have finished fifth in the overall standings with a 24-16 record. Roll on the playoffs. |

I just got off msn with my mate that was talking with steve at the same time, he tells me he hurt his ankle pretty bad and it was the same one he hurt while away with GB, still managed to play 9mins though according to Gyan. Hope for steve and GB that its not too bad. He also told me that steve has not been happy with his lack of court time . interesting if he stays next season. |

Thats really bad luck for Steve. I hope the injury isn't too bad and he recovers soon. Not surprised he's not happy about court time but he's done well when given the chance. Wouldn't be surprised to see him as a starter in a better league. If it weren't for injuries and bad luck he would probably have been playing in Spain, Turkey or Greece this season. But the most important thing is finding the right sitation.

Just checked eurobasket and the playoff matchups are up. Steve's team will play M.magix in the quarters. Both teams finished with identical 24-16 records. The game is next Saturday, will be interesting to see if Steve is fit to play. |

Steve's team won their first playoff game 76-70. Haven't seen the box score yet but he definitely played. He also made the 24-man roster for training camp in August: Kieron Achara (Fortitudo, ITA) Rob Archibald (Unicaja, ESP) Andy Betts (Aris Thesaloniki, GRE) Eric Boateng (Arizona State, USA) Flinder Boyd (Leicester Riders, GBR) Matthew Bryan-Amaning (University of Washington, USA) Dan Clark (Estudiantes, ESP) Daryl Corletto (Melbourne Tigers, AUS) Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls, USA) Germayne Forbes (Nyon, SWI) Joel Freeland (Gran Canaria, ESP) Nick George (Gravelines Dunkerque, FRA) Ben Gordon (Chicago Bulls, USA) Randall Hanke (Providence, USA) Jarrett Hart (Keravnos, CYP) Dzaflo Larkai (L'Hospitalet, ESP) Mike Lenzly (Harem Scafati, ITA) Steve Leven (West Brabant-Giants NED) Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Toronto Raptors, CAN) Richard Midgley (Everton Tigers, GBR) Nate Reinking (Mons Hainaut, BEL) Justin Robinson (Rider University, USA) Andrew Sullivan (CSK VVS Samara, RUS) Tafari Toney (Newcastle Eagles, GBR) Think his chances of making the final 12 are very good. Interesting to hear what others think... |

I agree his chances are good to make it again and. I saw steve played with the injured ankle in the playoffs, think he had 14pts, good to see him playing through the injury but hope he is fine for this summer! |

Haven't heard anything about Steve's ankle but if he's been struggling with that then his play off performances are even more impressive. Not sure if the Giants will be able to keep him for next season though because if he keeps up this good form then he will be on the radar of even bigger clubs. |

Just checked Steve's web site and unfortunately his team were eliminated at the semi final stage but they were up against a great Amsterdam team. Steve averaged about 10points through the playoffs in limited minutes. I can see him opting out of another season at West Brabant though. I did also notice that Steve didn't play in their last game and was wondering if this was because of his ankle injury? |

I just was reading the guestbook and saw that also! I think he was just maybe being P.C maybe, but would be great to see him back in the league but would be a stretch as i would suspect he would be signed in europe somewhere. -RC |

Yeah I saw that too, it was a question from an Everton fan and I agree that Steve was probably just being diplomatic. To be honest I can't see Steve returning to the BBL any time soon and the only reason he played (briefly) in the league before was because he was coming off an injury. He did well in Holland considering the situation and in the playoffs showed he is a player for the big occasion. He also seems to be on the radar of big teams given his Malaga connections and last summer he signed that lucrative deal in Greece which unfortunately fell through. It's not impossible that he could play with Everton though with Tony there and if they can show him that they will put the right pieces around him in terms of players. He might also want to stay closer to his family so who knows? Either way I'm sure his agent is already negotiating hard with teams and Steve will have a lot of options for next season. Will be interesting to see what he chooses to do. Until then I'm sure he'll be busy over the next few months with club trials, the GB squad and whatever media work comes his way. |

He actually played longer in the BBL then he has in any other pro league. His injury was in September and he signed at Newcastle in February. And he was actually due to play for team in iceland before he came to newcastle. apart from that .................... |

Where do you see Steve playing next season then Dave? Do you think there is a chance of him coming back to the BBL and maybe getting a full season under his belt? |
