With early interest in the sport and some guidance I would expect a player to be able to do this by 10yrs old, possibly earlier.

its not just about interest in sport its about development co-ordination. Girls tend to develop quicker than boys and often bigger boys are slower. but i think for most 10-11 is a reasonable age

Its a pointless skill anyway, just learn to carry one ball safely and your team will thank you for it more.Keep it low and keep it shielded.Do you want to be a Harlem globetrotter or a real baller?
Just happy to be here, you know

It is far from pointless as it improves ball handling on both hands as well as co-ordination! There is nothing worse than a player that can only use one hand. Next you'll be saying why do weak handed layups and shooting as you can always use the other hand. :laugh
