Looks like Blake Griffin had a great game (23 points on 9/12 shooting with 16 boards) despite his team losing to UNC. I only managed to see part of his 1st round game. Was wondering people's opinions on him. Has his play in the tourney raised or lowered your expectations for him in the NBA? Will he struggle with the bigger/stronger athletes of the NBA as much as Beasley has this year? Will he be a competent defender from the get-go? I really liked the very limited amount I have seen from him, however I remember the hype Beasley recieved last year and I have been unimpressed with his game (as well as his personality) in the NBA. (I never saw him in college) |

It was a really impressive game by Griffin. It was double and triple teamed by Carolina and it looked like he would be shut down after 10 minutes into the game. But he still was dominating the glass, had like 9 rebs in 10 minutes. Then he also started finding all kinds of ways to score.....he's very dominant inside with his size, athleticism and skill level. He also showed he could face up and blow past big men....even a turn-around fadeaway from 12 feet. The problem with Beasley is he's kind of a tweener, he can be overwhelmed by NBA power forwards. Griffin is a prototypcial power forward. One glaring weakness is Griffin's defense is non-existant. Capel and Oklahoma coaching staff must teach him to just put his hands up, never challenge for a shot and do everything he can not to pick up a foul because that's how he plays defense. But he seems to have all the physical tools. By the way, Tyler Hansborough has NBA scrub written all over him. |

Ageed, Griffin is as legit a prospect as you're likely to find the the college game these days, in my opinion. And I think a lot of the things people criticise about his D, like fat lever said, is based on him being told not to pick up fouls for the Sooners. He can learn how to play D, he has the body for it. |

not sure about tyler hansbrough being a scrub- he has too much intensity to lie down that easily. if he falls to the bottom of the first round, he could deffo contribute at a contender- he reminds me a little of leon powe in bostons championship run- doing a couple of little things really well and thus having an impact. of the teams that will draft 20th to 30th maybe the one he would fit in best at would be orlando- backing up sheed/hedo at a 3/4 role, doing the dirty work and having an impact substitute role- he will find ways to help his team. as the commentators kept on saying in the elite 8 matchup- griffin found it a lot easier to score without hansborough on the floor. |

CONGRATULATIONS NORTH CAROLINA! Surely both Lawson and Hansbrough will be first-round picks in this year's NBA Draft? (Oklahoma's Blake Griffin is a lock for 1st pick) Kudos to morestealsthanscores- great job with the predictions! |

First of all I Michael Beasley isn't getting blown away. He averages about 14pts & 8 rebounds per game. I don;t think that's bad for a rookie. He has impressed many in the NBA. Tyler Hansboro has been great for UNC. He won't set the NBA alight especially in his rookie year but he gives everyting he has, he has a good shot and is near perfect from the free throw line. He doesn't pick up stupid fouls on defence so he never ends up in foul trouble. Blake Griffin is a good prospect but as has been said he needs to learn to not give up stupid fouls. His coach & his team aren't going to be very happy id he plays for 5 mins and picks up regular fouls has to sit down. If he doesn't learn he won't do much. A player I've liked during this year's games is DeJuan Blair. He looks a good prospect. |
