Bench Player Posts: 227 Group: Member Member #9,801 Joined: September 10, 2008	Just been reading some reader's comments on heralds website from someone in newcastle and it suggests that Gavin was not shown any loyalty by Gary. Does this mean that he didn't really want to retire and was pushed into it so we could change the roster, or is it totally untrue and just vicious rumour? I hope it's the latter as I was hoping Gavin would stay involved with the club in some capacity. The reader also says Terrance will be discarded at the end of the season and that Gary can't coach and owes all his success to Cat and T so obviously not a big fan! Has anybody else heard anything?

Starter Posts: 591 Group: Member Member #1,327 Joined: January 16, 2007	I would say that the article is a wind up and that there is no real proof that "Eddie" presumably "the Eagle" is in fact from Newcastle ? It may be an effort by some "wag" to create a huge argument between the two sets of fans. The views of Gary's coaching are frankly insulting on many levels, not least if you consider how much he has contributed to the 25 year history of Raiders. If I remember correctly from my brief chat with Gavin on Friday frustration with his fairly "minor" recent injuries are what led him to call it a day. I say "minor" because as Gavin himself pointed out he has suffered many serious injuries over the years. He not only bounced back from them but made himself a top player for Raiders for many seasons. Remember, he has had at least two back operations over the years then the bad achilles injury but it was a niggling ankle problem which in the end was too much. I cannot add an insider comment as far as what Gavin will do next, but my hope like Aaron's is that he will retain an interest with Raiders.

He is joining the group of Community Coaches who work in schools and in the community, where he'll be doing some coaching of basketball to young people all over Devon and Cornwall.

This might be wishful thinking but I'd also like to see Terrence do something similar cos it does look like injuries are getting the better of him regards playing at the top level.

Bench Player Posts: 109 Group: Member Member #9,359 Joined: May 25, 2008	If coaching is what he is interested in, It would be good to see gavin as assistant coach for the raiders next season, he could learn the ropes and we all win in that british basketball has another good upcomming coach that could someday take over a BBL or better program of his own. would be a good idea for the raiders to keep him in the mix and groom him as he has been a great player and club guy for you plymouth from what it seems. -RC
