We've already had a poll about the drum - why start another?

If you look in the Slate you'll see that Sarah is Senior Commercial Manager & Daniel is Basketball Operations Manager.
They are normally present on game nights.

ive thought of an idea which il discuss with sarah or daniel if i can find who they are im going to put to them that they should do a questionairre for fans regarding game experience with the infamous drum being one of those questions and other things such as carpark access to get fans views on what they think having read previous threads there seems to be lots of people against a drum and very few so that woud prob have to be the focus on such questionairre with careful consideration given on weather it should be kept or abolished

The wording of your poll is very confusing - I'd like to answer Yes to both options. :roflol2

In fact, I just have.

What was wrong with the last poll - didn't you get the result you wanted?

Looks to me like the majority are in favour of the drum - I'd rather see a poll about, for instance, whether we think Sterling signed well this season or how high in the league we will end up.

You know, something positive.

from the games ive been to this season there are positives more than there are negatives however people should be able to go out and ENJOY the game experience without having their ear drum battered its a smaller arena from what i can remember of braehead its almost half the size of braehead so there is no great need for it ive noticed the person leaves for a short time during games and during that time theres no drum being bashed, i have noticed during the time the drum isnt present there is still a good atmosphere around the supporters do you think 60 thousand fans at parkhead or 70 thousand at old trafford take drums with them to games no they go support the team and enjoy

Short of getting an ASBO I don't really see how you can stop the drum. Its not everybody's cup of tea but when not competing with the PA system it does help galvanise the suppporters to get behind the team. In todays e-mail from the Rocks, Sterling makes mention of the "electric" atmosphere in the 4th quarter last Sunday which in his opinion helped the team to win the game, I know he may be talking the talk but its obviously something the players are aware of.

Athough personally I'm not a fan of it getting battered all night, it does have a part to play and like I say how can you abolish it? Although not massive the hall is big enough that no-one has to sit near the dr#m unless they want to.

I'm not having a go here but how much closer could the car park be? Try getting as close to any of the major football grounds or Murrayfield and your car would get clamped.

I think we were spolied at Braehead. The Kelvin Hall may not have the same facilities but hopefully the move will ensure the team survives until the new venue opens. This year the bench is noticably stronger than it has been which has probably turned a few close games from losses into wins, I don't know if this is a result of a bigger budget or not, but I'd rather win on a plastic seat than lose on a padded one.

Happy Christmas to one and all

But what if the drum follows Yandersfan11 around the arena? :whistle

Na - that would be paranoia :wink

What on earth does the poll mean - I certainally do not understand it!

I personally think if the drum is having a negative on some peoples game night experience it should be dumbed down a little. Maybe bang it a little less hard. Since the original poll, I have seen at least 3 groups of peoples move seats during the game ,and a number not returning to their seats after half time.

Life is about compromise, the Rocks suipport is very split on this issue, and to me the answer is keep the drum but maybe bang it a little quieter - hopefully that will keep everyone happy.

As for the pa system it is crap and too loud.

With regards to the parking there is plenty of free on-street parking with a walk of under 5 mins to the arena.

& finally personally I preferred winning on the Braehead comfy seats!

Instead of banging on about the drum did anyone hear the sicking comment made from the back row about the halfway line from what sounded like a teenage voice abusing the ref who only had his hand missing id rather hear the drum than some ignorant idiot.

i need to get this quoting thing right :laugh

I'm quite partial to brass ( my son plays Tuba) - bring it on !!!!

Actually the college basketball games have a brass section playing during games - it certainly adds to the atmosphere.

We have a brass section at Greenbank, we do keep them away from the rest of the fans though - we stick them under the basket that the opposition is shooting in to and let them get on with it!

can you imagine a brass section along with a drum being battered lol there wouldnt be any fans at games if people are so unhappy about the drum nows the time to start a petition of names for people who are against it to sign at games i think there would be more people signing to ban the drum than people signing it to keep it

Reminds me of a time many years ago when Giants played at the MEN Arena, one of the Giants fans used to take a bugle and blow it when giants scored. One game the army had some musicans doing a display at half time, in the second half the musicans sat down and watched the game.
At some point Giants scored and our lone bugler blew his bugle, next moment about 6 army musicans stood up and played a full fanfare in return!!!
Our guy kept quiet for the rest of the game!!!!

Absolutely not - the Rocks need all the help they can get at the moment and we're not exactly the most vocal supporters in the league. Whenever the drum goes quiet the atmosphere takes a nose-dive. Time to let this go or move your seat!

1. it's not interesting
2. you will not get the backing.
3. if you support the rocks at least find out who's who
4. most weeks the owners Mr & Mrs Reid thank Kevin the drummer for keeping the vocal support going
5. WE HAVE LOST 5 GAMES IN A ROW, LOOKS LIKE AN AWAY TIE FOR THE PLAY OFFS, I THINK WE SHOULD BE MORE WORIED ABOUT WHAT GOES ON ON THE COURT
6. I SWEAR I WILL BRING MY TRUMPET :party :party :party :party :party :party :party :party :party :party :party

Enough. Enough guff about drum or no drum :yawn . This is not the forum for a witch hunt or to intentionally divide fans whose common aim is back their team and escape any other bickering for a short while they have in their life. You've made your personal point YF11 - move on. To be blunt, its tedious and does not have the backing - move it on :offtopic .

Not prepared to share your views/opinions/comments on our squad performance this season? Thats the beauty of this forum - you share, you learn and you laugh. We've got some of the best fans here that make you think, show a great understanding of the game and know their sport and that makes it worthwhile :clap .

Lets get some threads going on state of play in Season 08-09 - just the way the other clubs' fans have done and enjoy the exchange.

Now where were we ? . . . . . . . . . . . :clap
