Predictions for probably the biggest game of the college season so far... should be a great game. The Tennessee Volunteers are playing brilliantly and after the close shave against UAB on Sunday, Memphis should be up for it too. Predictions anyone? I am going for a narrow Volunteers upset (Memphis losing it from the line down the stretch) 77-73 |

Playing in Memphis gives the Tigers a huge advantage, as they haven't lost at home in a couple of years (though playing in the powder-puff Conference USA that isn't surprising). Saying that, with the afore-mentioned conference schedule, the Tigers haven't been tested much since Conference play started and may be a little less 'battle-hardened' than the Vols, who play in the much tougher SEC. It should be close game, but I'm going with Memphis, simply for the fact they have the Home Court. But, for the reason given above, I wouldn't be surprised if the Vols win. BTW, NASN aren't showing this game Live, we're getting Arkansas-Kentucky instead (WHY???), but it is on 'As-Live' at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

It's quite simple really, this game is 9pm ET which would be 2am UK time, and on a Saturday NASN's usual game times are 5pm,7pm and 9pm UK time. This is an interesting game because Memphis can't hit the three, but Tennessee don't have the inside presence to match Memphis and both teams play relentless pressure defence. I'm going with Tennessee but I wouldn't put money on it! |

The game is on..... it is on Setanta Ireland (NASN2 Sky Channel 434) at 2am live on Sunday morning. In addition there is triple header during the day. |

NASN2 as in what's shown on Setanta 1 has Michigan vs Minnesota earlier on, on my TV guide (crappy virgin media) but not to worry, I will be huddled over the computer screen hoping for a decent Sopcast link for this one, can't wait! |

I'll stick my neck out and say Memphis by 10+. Also, surely 'Volunteers' is the worst nickname in all of sports? |

Very close game, Tennessee won 66-62... iced it with FT's down the stretch, as predicted Memphis missed a lot during the game. Vols now the no.1 team! I got the winning margin of 4 for Tennessee correct!!!

I see the 'told you so' gang are out in force, saying that Memphis' perfect record was only because they were playing in a Conference full of patsies. I'm not saying 'I told you so', but I did point that out earlier!

I predicted the loss but I think maybe this is what Memphis needed to stay motivated and I think they will re-group and go far in the tournament. Derrick Rose is an amazing player but they are going to have to have an inside game going if they are going to go far. |

This game was a classic case of hype over substance. Neither of those teams were a top 10 team, both will bounce from the dance early, but Tennessee will go further than Memphis. |

WOW, if neither of those teams are top 10 teams, what would your top 10 be? |

I think they are both top 10 teams, I think the game was extremely good for the 1st 10mins but once the 3's dried up so did the scoring and the quality! I agree that Tennessee will go further than Memphis, I am always worried about their FT's in any close game. |

yeah, the final 30 never lived up to the first ten minutes, but it was decent enough. can't honestly see that there are ten teams better than them two. the quote that free-throw percentage is number 26 on a list of 25 important things in a game has been well and truly stuffed down a certain coach's throat. it's not the be-all and end-all, but it matters. I taped it on Setanta Ireland, it's worth checking their schedule as they aren't as obsessed with hockey night in bloody canada as the UK version |

To say Memphis aren't a top-10 team on the basis of that game, seems a little silly to me. You just have to look at their other non-Conference games, which they won every one, to see that they are a great team (UCONN, Georgetown, USC, Gonzaga and Arizona). You could argue that they didn't deserve to be #1 because of their powder-puff Conference schedule, but not top-10? You'd find it difficult to convince me of that. |

Oy, misquoted I meant neither looked like a top 10 team during that game. Completely hype over substance, I see Tennessee making the sweet 16 (maybe), Memphis bounces in the second round

OK, maybe we better just put UNC top of the pile after #18 Vanderbilt knocked off new #1 Tennessee last night 72-69!

Vandy are on good form and were really fired up for this game, I think if the Vols had been playing this having not played Memphis away at the weekend they probably would have won... hard not to be drained after Saturday night. I think UNC are probably no.1 when they get Lawson back, but if he goes down again I see them struggling to get past the Sweet 16. I think Xavier are looking a dark horse too, should be higher than no11. Texas anyone?!
