19 NOV PUTTING THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE When I heard about the news regarding Guildford Heat guard Brian Dux it was a sobering moment. Sport often helps put things in perspective and this was one of those times. At the time of writing I am still unsure of Brian`s condition and would like to take the time to say all of our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time. I urge all of you who read this to assess your individual situations and realise the positives in everything. We are all very fortunate to be playing/watching basketball and should take each day as a gift. Anyways after returning to Derby I immediately hooked up with Derby Trailblazers and in true "Tom fashion", I twisted my ankle within an hour of the first practice! Not to be deterred the guys went to The College of West Anglia Fury and beat a very hard playing Kings Lynn outfit 91-60 with Joe Barber scoring 36 for us ( a game I played in but probably shouldn't have - But it was My Decision ). After viewing how the game went and with the personnel we have I believe we can be very competitive in a deep league this year. With Reading, Worthing and Manchester there are some very good outfits in EBL 1. On November 17th we played Bristol Academy and lost which I personally felt was a poor performance by us. Team chemistry is huge in basketball and right know we are lacking that edge. We have two weeks to work on things in practise and would like to see a much improved Trailblazers against Coventry. But anyway until next time try and keep some perspective people. |
