Not a great follower of world basketball but kept my eye on the Belgium league for a number of seasons because of ex-shark connections. I can't help noticing that Finchy has taken his new side to the top of the Belgium league and has opened up well in European competition a feat he also managed with Bree. He has done a great job with the GB team and now is a Division A coach. What I am wondering is how far can Chris go? has he reached his level or do you think he can move on to stronger leagues in Europe or the NCAA, D-league etc and what would it take for that to happen? I just wondered what the thoughts of the more experienced Euro / world watchers are... V |

Would be interesting to see if he could coach in the ACB or maybe Italy They are bigger budget leagues and obviously higher profile Alternatively I would like to see him have a crack at a team with big resources in Euroleague but maybe in a lesser standard league ie Prokom in Poland etc... Belgium is an average league Europe wise Trouble is, while he is coach of GB he wont get any of the big jobs club-wise Which is a shame Top coach and top man though Would be pleased if he did get a bigger job next summer but gutted if he had to knock GB on the head |

Why? Plenty of top European national team coaches also have top club jobs - the Russian Head Coach David Blatt is at Efes Pilsen for example. Don't see why Finch's GB role would hold him back - his GB coaching over the Summer definitely helped Mons in terms of recruiting this season, although it looks as if Dru Sullivan is underperforming, Lenzley has had a major impact. Ideal scenario for me would be Finchy coaching a British club team in Europe built round a core of GB talent but just the small matter of budget holding that one back! |

I was thinking about this myself. I wish him to be a top coach in europe, but hopefully with GB too! However I think the dangling of the 2012 Olympic carrot will be too great for him to "jack" the team GB job in. I personally think he is happier at present doing both. |
