Magic take on Reading in the first crunch game of the season. One thing I love about D1 is if you want to win the league, you can really only afford 2, maybe 3 losses tops. Some years not even that. Magic looked superb in the first half of the Trophy game, not so much in the second. Rockets have got in a new American since then so the game will be different, can't wait. Magic have Rockets, Derby, Leopards and Worthing up next 4 games so a lot could be decided before Christmas. We must go at least 3-1, I think. Tomorrow it's Team Northumbria in the Cup QF, not taking anything for granted, but we should progress. I do know they have some good players though. |

Thunder won by 2 in a game were 4 T's were given out, very close fought game with an improving essex side vs a thunder side without Pat Bates and limited options due to foul Trouble, which was marred by an big arguement/brawl in the stands. |

Congrats to Mansfield on a third win over a D1 side in the Cup- well done guys I watched two games today- Bradford Maroons edged Huddersfield 102-98 in a game that Maroons will wonder why it was close given they were 37-11 up before Huddersfield got into gear. Paul Adomaitis's 46 points were a big factor in Maroons winning this one Then Bradford Dragons beat a very young Magic 2 68-48 in a game that was very scrappy and Magic will be disappointed with the shooting %ages of some of the guys, particularly from downtown |

Who fancies taking on Luna Mansfield Stars next? They have beaten some decent teams Derby - D1 Sheffield Saints - D3 (Top) Coventry - D1 And now Bristol D1 Luna Mansfield Stars having nothing to lose either against Reading,Manchester or Worhting! |

Quite a weekend for a Thunder fan. Beat Bristol 89-85 after being up 60-38 at the half. The game was tied at 82 with 52 seconds left and Ryan Williams had the chance to give Bristol the lead with three free throws but missed all 3 and Thunder settled the game at the line. A awesome set up at Bristol and despite some stupid fans shouting abuse at the Thunder fans and personal attack threats at some others the crowd was excellent and made the atmosphere probably the best I've heard in quite a while. Bristol told us that this was their biggest crowd so far this season as well. Just got back from Leopards where a great game played between two good sides was marred by awful reffing on both sides. Seemed like John Leitzia had it in for Leopards and that woman ref had it in for us.. We pulled away in the first but from the second quarter, it was pretty much trading baskets literally. Good game of basketball in front of a noisy crowd, my voice was so hoarse from the Bristol game that I didn't chant every time.. We got the W though. Stephen, nice to see you again pal. As for after the game, horrible and hopefully never to seen at any basketball venue again. That's all I'm saying on it, case closed.. |

Excellent performance today by the Mansfield Stars to overcome a tough Bristol team. Certainly shows certain people that teams outside D1 can play excellent basketball. Rob Stockwell was on top form for Stars scoring 38 and great defence by Dan Watts in particular holding Ryan Williams to 13. Makowski top scored for Bristol with 17, 14 of which came in the 2nd period. Well done guys. Sets up a tough Semi Vs either Manchester, Reading or Worthing. p.s. anyone know how the Giants vs Leeds game went today? |

When will the draw be made for the cup semi final? I have to ask the question - can Luna Mansfield Stars go all the way - based upon their current form People may say that Derby, Coventry & Bristol were easy wins - but they are all strong Div 1 teams |

Luna Stars get Manchester, at least it won't be as much travelling as last weekend. Having watched Magic against Reading (who only had 7 fit players) a place in the semi final might not be that difficult for the on form DIV 3 side. What would be really interesting, would be (if Luna Stars beat Magic and Reading beat thunder) watching Stars truly great guard Dan Watts marking his brother Tintin, who also is a great allround player. |
