15 oct stand up for the eagles legend.... but enough about bada What a weekend it was! It all started quite early last Saturday morning when I got up about 8, had myself a shower and then really just messed about on the net as usual. My lift wasn’t arriving until eleven-ish but it finally came and when it arrived I threw my bag in the back and made my self comfy for the long drive to Leicester. We headed though the Tyne tunnel to pick Kim up, and when we found were she lived, off we went. Sat nav was set and I think we then knew where we were going. On the way down there was just some good bit banter in the car mixed in with different radio stations as we could get them, and also some talk of wed game at the rocks in there as well. Doesn’t time fly when your having fun? Arriving in Leicester for about 2 - 2.15 pm, we checked into our hotel, got our keys and went to the room. Nice room it was too. A couple of double beds and we had a mini bar too so that was quiet cool. Three o’ clock came around so thought best put the England footie game on to see if anything good happening and then just went off it for some reason. Waiting for some of the oota to arrive so we could go out for some food. They eventually arrived at around 4 o’clock and we went to meet them just next to where we were playing the game. So we walked up Leicester main street to see if there was much up there we found a Chinese buffet. So we went in and ‘the old boiler’ says £7.99 that alright? So we all said aye. She says ok then go and help yourself. Got up to the counter and I says, right then, I am going to help myself, but suddenly there’s nowt to help myself to - it was the worst and ####test Chinese I have ever been to. So time ticked on after we had been to the Chinese so we went back to the hotel room for a bit with the oota that had a arrived there was still more to come. So we just chilled in the room for a bit until they arrived, when they did arrive at about 6 we went to meet them and get ourselves ready for the game. At 6.30 the doors opened and we went in, got our tickets because we were on the guest list, and then as we entered the sports hall cause that’s all it is after all, the bloke on the door says. “Sorry son no drums allowed” I just thought he was joking on but he wasn’t, this bloke was actually being serious. I just couldn’t believe it. So my drum got stashed in the Eagles changing room and I got it at the end. So onto the game had as I had no drum, we had to shout nice and loud so we could be heard. And the oota sure did that. It helped the lads on to victory which you could say was in the bag after the 3rd quarter. In the end, the guys won 80-99 and everyone now was wanting to know the score for the Rugby. So we clapped the lads off and ran round to the pub to see but it was packed and I didn’t fancy going in there, so Bada and his Dizzy went in and we just went back to the crappy sports centre to wait for some players to come out and we had a few pictures taking and just discussed the game. So we finally went back to the hotel after that and dropped the drum off and went to the kebab shop for supper which was well lush, (Ed - sont they allow drums in Kebab Shops in Leicester either? Hope you went to the world famous Cyprus Kebab House btw) Then we headed back to hotel room to chill and off to bed early due to the real long drive of the next day. The beds were really comfy, shame about the noise outside as we had the stupid ventilator outside my window which kept me awake for a while and then we heard some nutter at 3 in the morning celebrating the England win singing loads of songs. Had us laughing anyway ads he was quite funny. Eventually we got to sleep at about four and then I heard Kim’s phone going off at 7. So we got up, just threw some rags on to go down to have breakfast. Breakfast was buffet so just we ate what we wanted. I had some cereal, bowl of grapes and a fry up! Yes, nowt better to start you off for the long day ahead. (Ed - did the Holiday Inn allow the drum into the buffet breakfast area? Oh and with this level of superb detail you are rivalling Pointy King’s legendary Copa Del Rey Blogs) So when we finished breakfast it was back up to the room to get showered and get our bags packed and get ourselves ready for the off. We set off at about 10 o’clock to head off to Plymouth, which was a four hour drive from Leicester. It was quite comfy again, (nice car Bada) had with nice seats and lots of leg room. Got to Exeter and I needed a pee that was our only stop and had been going quite well till then! We arrived in Plymouth for around about 2 o’clock, had a chat with a few fans and then headed off for some food at Wetherspoons just across the road. While people were eating their dinner there was a band playing - one man on the trumpet and one of the keyboard. I mean haway man, when you go out for Sunday dinner people like nice quiet music, people would have been running out the door here, it was a bit crap! We finished four food and then walked over to the Pavilions and went to the car to get the drum and the rest of the gear and then for a ticket. Frisky already had our tickets so we got a ticket off him only to find out we had been allocated seats. I was gutted really cause last time we sat where we wanted to but not this time, seats weren’t only allocated there were the bloody front row . Ah hell that’s good cant stand up because there’s going to be people behind me, so no standing up in this game. As Plymouth is a long way wasn’t many of the oota there, was 9 travelled down from Leicester and made a weekend of it, but hey we made some noise and supported our guys right till the final whistle and they give us what we wanted to see which was a 69 76 win away from home. Was amazing as Plymouth is a hard place to go to, especially after being in Leicester the night before as well. So game over, wait for Bada to finish his newspaper interviews and we hit the road. Left for about 6.15 and had a nice journey back not a slow one either lol. Sat nav said we should be back about 1,didnt stay like that for very long, arrival time just kept going down and down and down. Then how crap it was when it sent us the wrong way! Instead of putting us on the m42 it sent us up the m6 and then we had to cut across to the m62. But bada thinks that we could have been back even quicker if we just went straight up the m42. We stopped for a toilet break at about 9 - 10 oclock, and then hit the road again.Got back home for about 12.00 which was quiet good. Only took us 5 and half hours which was great driving by bada so credit to him getting us back so fast as that included a stop and a detour otherwise it would have been an amazing five hours! Great weekend overall with two wins and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Home game on Tuesday and then down to Sheffield on Friday. Cheers for reading! |

I was quite shocked when I got a text message while on my dinner break the other day from Mr Digby saying that Wor King "Tom Sherlock" had left the Eagles. My view on this is that to be honest, you could see it coming. Tom really hasn't had the chance this season to show why we signed him, and now he aint going to be showing us why he got signed. Tom has had very limited minutes this season and hasnt really produced anything in thoe precious minutes and to be honest, he hasnt had enough minutes to show anything. I do remember one particular game this season, and I think it was Sheffield away or Leicester away when Tom did come on the court and within a minute was pulled back off for making a mistake. You know Fabthough, he doesn't stand for mistakes or sloppiness. Lets talk about Plymouth because I am quite sure Tom didnt even get a game and it's a long way to travel to sit on the bench for a player that was used to playing starting five BBL basketball last season. I think this stage of Tom's career .. he is 26 by the way, he wants to be playing lots of basketball and I think he felt he wasnt going to get that this season and has felt he is better off going else where or doing something else. I would like to thank Tom for everything he did last season for the Eagles and to how hard he must have worked to get into last season's starting 5. All the best to Tom for the future and I look forward to seeing him hopefully playing in Newcastle again sometime, maybe for the Eagles maybe for a different team. For anyone that watched TJ Walker's interview on badaball tv, I am sure TJ said that he is hoping to make one more signing, maybe the King couldbe heading down to Cheshire? Lets just wait and see. I also wonder if there is going to be a new signing for the Eagles, or is Fab just going to work with what he's got... I think if there is going to be a new signing its going to have to be an English guy isnt it as Eagles have used all Amercian slots...... Lets go back to last Friday's Eagles game, when Chesire gave us a great game and I thought they were going to win it. I thought the Eagles all night were poor on rebounding at both ends of the court and hopefully they have been working on it in training all week and wont be a problem on friday when the Raiders vist the toon to give us what I hope will be a cracking game. No away games in the month of November for the Eagles but 3 home games. Next on the road for us guys is at the rocks on the 2nd of December. Dont forget guys, get yourself a badaball t-shirt. I am going to be buying myself one soon and going to help keep badaball.com alive. Cheers for reading. |

It's been a while badaball fans, I've been quite a busy guy lately, not within the basketballing world though that has not been too busy. Let's start with last weekend and it wasn't a good one either. Metro Radio Arena on a Friday night one thing I normally go and watch at the MRA on a Friday and thats a ball game. Well last Friday took me to the Metro Radio Arena to watch an ice hockey match. Semi final game it was against Nottingham, on the back of back to back defeats, the Vipers went into this game not so good. In the end they got what they deserved and that was a loss. Quite upset to be honest, because apart from one time this season which was against the Heat, I have been to the Arena and seen a winning team. Shame this wasnt the case with the Vipers as it was a semi final as well. Last Eagles home game was Chesire in the cup which ended up with a much more comfortable win than the couple of weeks before we had played them. This win took us into the semi final which is on the weekend of the 15th of december against the Scottish Shot Clocks, sorry I mean the Scottish Rocks. Anyway talking about the Scottish Rocks not the best of game on sunday at the Breahead Arena for the Eagles. The night started badly when the clock started to run with no play, instead of explaining the whole of what happened just go and watch the video which was made at the game by mr bing and dave. Good video it was too. Eagles definately didn't deserve to win at the Rocks on sunday, nothing worked for us. For me we played 5 minutes good d and that was in the 1st 5 minutes and we took a lead of 6-0 of something like that and after that nothing worked,no defence and attacking the basket we were very poor as well nothing would go for us. So dodgy watching a game with no clock and to see the score we had to shout and ask for it to be turned around so we could see it. In the end the eagles got what was deserved and that was a defeat. Never ever thought I would be saying this but thats the way it goes. This weekend brings a trip to the Arena from the Leicester Riders, hopefully a game we should win and then Saturday morning brings the 5 and half hour trip of London. Hopefully we can pick all points up this weekend and make up for sundays loss and gain that place back at the top of the table where we belong. A week on saturday brings the long trip back down to london and I will be heading to Crawley, hopefully to do to the Rocks what they done to us at there place on Sunday Also look out guys, I now have my badaball.com t-shirt and am trying to wear it for every game I travel to this season and advertise the site. Hope you guys have all been buying yours since now donations go towards Brian Dux, who I hope is recovering well back at home. For now though guys thats it. cheers for reading. |

29 DECEMBER WISHEY WASHEY Its been a canny december in the land of the eagles. Started off with a trip down to the caps, which in the end the eagles came out the better side and took a win.Caps played us all the way to the buzzer and kept the game close for pretty much the whole game. Nice little place where the caps play,in the captial acadamy, suppose it just fitted in nicely the amount of people they can get. Week later, trip down to crawley which is near enough london all over again. Eagles v rocks and Heat v Lions ,to excellent games of basketball with eagles coming out winners of there and the lions coming out winners of there game. Was to great games of basketball down at crawley nice little venue there aswell. Every eagles player played great and half of them were carrying injures and we still came out winners in the end of what was a hard fought performance by fab and the guys. Like to thank les who drove about 15 of us fans down to crawley and back in the mini bus. Suppose i aint spoke about the loss of midge,to me yea he was a great player, but i wouldnt say hes a player that couldnt be replaced. Suppose as he said he has been selfish and he is doing it for himself and then read a different paper report he says he wants to stay there and help everton move forward, speaking to henry mooney yesterday at the game and says to him so hows richard settling in then, says yeah hes a great player,am suprised you let him go,i was like eh. We had no choice to be honest henry. What a nice long day 28th of december turned out to be,players delayed due to broken windscreen wiper. Even funnier thing was when we arrived at greenbank to the abuse i was being shouted by partners in crime (bada and Dave f) only to find out that dave f was sitting waiting for the AA to come to his rescue, any one guess why ??? Yes you got it ,he had broken windscreen wiper aswell, fun and games, how strange is that, eagles bus broken windscreen wipers, dave's car broken windscreen wipers. Whats this world coming to. While sitting waiting for he AA as the two partner in crimes do the video camera comes out so be expecting some new video clips some time soon on badaball.com. Lets get onto the game team arrived at about 8.30 and where on the court tipping off at 8.50,only got about a 5 minute warm up and they started of real bad. Everton took a biggish lead in the 1st but the eagles pulled it back before the end of the 1st came, suppose the rest of the game the eagles played well, playing with injuries to,Fab-grion-j-hi-knee,olu-arm,darius-flu and back, and am quiet sure lynard is injured aswell,we played a good game and come out winners of our 1st trophy game, top stuff in the end.Thought were going to be in for a long night at the start after the awful start we made but the lads turned things aroundand well done to them. Nice little venue is greenbank aswell and enjoyed the trip there and wasnt to hard to find. Next on the road takes us to worcester but before that we have a home game against the rocks, and then weekend after that takes us to brummie for the final of the cup where hopefully the eagles will defeat the lions. Till next time |
