thanks to all the under 15 boys for their efforts today and all of this season - they did the club proud :hypnotic .

we got in a great position today but just weren't able to sustain the first half tempo and performance level for various reasons. When the dust settles i hope the players realise what a great effort they put in and what a bright future the club has.

The club were delighted to see 98 boys attend trials for this age group at the weekend.

Those boys selected to the next stage of trials began practice tonight and will continue over the next 4 weeks to attempt to make the 2007/8 Under 15 and 16 squads.

Those who were not selected on trial day are to be invited to attend further sessions and take part in a Central Venue League to allow the boys to continue to play and the club to monitor their progression.

Thanks to all the coaches for the smooth running of the trials with such large numbers present.

There is footlocker in the Bullring and the Pallisades that usually do a fair bit of stuff....other than that i'm not sure.

The boys would be a better bet to ask really.

If i hear of anywhere else then i'll let you know.

Very sorry to everyone for the confusion with last nights training session - it was somewhat of a one-off with the team from Canada visiting but it still should have been handled better by me and the Under 16 coaches.

Everybody that turned up and wasn't playing was asked to stay and watch to support their TEAMmates and maybe learn one or two things themselves.

We a a club need to make sure that the TEAM emphasis is right at the front of the players minds.

Practice definitely on as usual for everyone next week.

Sorry again, but well done to those that played and thanks to those who stayed.

Could we not have used the web site/forum or email to inform people Andy? - I for one travelled over 7 miles on a wasted journey to get my son to the club.

In hindsight yes, but to be honest i didn't think of it.
Hopefully your son was one of the boys that stayed to support his teammates and benefitted from the rare experience of watching a Canadian team play!!!
Sorry if it was a wasted journey for you, but the two under 16 squads training together need to support each other and the club - they don't have to be on court running up and down to learn something new and improve themselves.
DEFINITELY my big mistake - i'll make sure it won't happen again.....
Sorry.

The original fixture list had the date for our fixture as 20th October, not 23rd September.

At the late notice that it was found, it was better for both sides to postpone the game.

Re-scheduled date for the game is 24th November i think.

Very well done to the Under 16 Premier squad who managed to beat Derby in their first game of the 07/08 season...

Scores:

COB (20, 28, 49) 65 - Derby (9, 19, 25) 39

CoB top scorers : Hunter (12), MacDonald (12), Pinnock (11)

10 of the 12 all got on the scoresheet, by playing some very impressive team basketball.

Well Done.

Bring on Manchester tomorrow....

Unfortunately i wasn't able to make it up to the Manchester game due to the Pre-Lilleshall tournament held at Nechells for the 1994 born boys, but from the feedback i have had it was definitely quite a game!!

Game Scores

Manchester : 10 26 48 74 (Pilkington 24, Banks, 13, Townley 10)
COB : 13 34 54 73 (Cohen 27, Hunter 21, Josephs 11)

:cry

The fact that we lost by a free throw with 0.6 seconds remaining shows the improvement that the squad has made over the last three seasons - a definite improvement on the 50 point drubbings we had last year!!

Still lots to work on, but considering it was back to back games for the first weekend of the season against two really tough teams everybody should be proud.

The visit of Manchester to Nechells in January should be a really good game.....

Well done everyone involved.

:clap
