Dan is currently with the England U18 squad preparing for the Europeans which start Sunday. Lets hope he fares better than last year, as the team needs a big contribution from him if they are to do well.

I'm sure I read that he is training with the England Squad after dominateing in the Under 18's Qualifiers. One team chose to triple team him, thats one serious compliment.

I never ever want to grow up, would you? I'm Hungry Mama.

Is he better than the Senior forwards or worse, because of experience etc?

Ryan Richards, who is a product of the East Kent Crusaders in EBL 2/3 has just gone to Estudiantes, and is only just 16 i think.. let's hope he emulates Dan.

He is either 6'6', or he is getting on for that. He's played for England U-16's i think.

A good article with a section on Daniel Clark (at the bottom of the page): http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1163

Loads of similar articles on Draftexpress.

Thta article seemd to pick up on a lot of negatives about him. Basically being weak and effortless but with the potential and size to sort it out.

Dan I understand is to play with the Estudiantes ACB team this season (ACB is the best league in Europe) Obvioulsy he is not going to get too many minutes but it does look like he has decided to stay in Spain and turn down the advances of lots of Div 1 Schools.
Looking at the World Chgampionships he is in the best place.
Hope he carries on.
On Ryan Richards I think he has chosen to go to Gran Canaria not Estudiantes. Didnot show up in the Cadets really. Hope he looks at Dan and Joel and note how they worked hard and are both strong mentally it is not enough to be talented. Dan and Joel were MVPs in age group finals and carried their teams Ryan does not yet do that. He has talent hope he works to develop it.

Just to update the facts on Ryan Richards stated above. Ryan just turned 15 at the end of this past season. He is a legitimate 6'8 in barefeet. Last year as a 14 year old he played 10-15 minutes at EBL3.

He did struggle with the Under 16s, and does need to consistently work hard as was stated. However, he was a year young for this team. He will still be an Under 16 next season.

If Ryan can keep his focus and work hard over the next few years he has a lot of potential.

“Obviously he is not going to get too many minutes” I would like to know how you came across this information.

As you all know this coming school year is very important for Dan, at the end of this year he will be taking his final school exams (Like A level’s in the UK). Therefor the chance of him leaving Spain this year was very remote. A fact that you all know is that this season he will be playing with the A team (ACB League), for those who are familiar with Spanish Basketball, this would be the normal transition for talented players entering the junior programme.

It is important to note that if Dan decides to go to US next year and enter the college system he will have no problems with NCAA eligibility rules, as he is not on a professional contract. (I added this not to start a debate).

As a result of Dan going to school, he will not be on the Euroleague Roster as this would mean he would have to miss 3 days a week from school for the away matches.

Estudiantes is a club that lives up to it name in terms of education. If the players want to go to school in addition to learning their skills in basketball then this club is not a bad place to go.

I read with interest the UKTV slam site blog from the Spanish Expert.
While The UK TV Slam is normally absolutely great and while they may be provocative at times. Which I think is also good. they are normally factually correct.
It is shame that the expect did not read the previous thread that said Dan would be sidelined for three months while estudiantes rehabilitated his knee, which was over worked in the summer and during preseason.
Dan was on the roster for the Euro Cup game at home last week but was not even kitted up. I was at the game.
He was not on the roster before that as like Andy Betts has just been removed while injured. This takes their salary out of the calculations for the salries limit for the league.
Coach Martinez wants Dan Clark in his line up and I hope he does get playing time. If Estudiantes did not think they would play him then he would be playing LEB already.
Come on UKTV please get an 'expert' who is an expert or at keast checks out his facts or even contacts the club as I did when i read the blog.

I am sure and joel freeland will get PT this year.

Dan got his first competitive court time for the Mens team tonight in the FIBA Europe Cup. In 7 mins he scored 3 points and had 1 block shot. Estudiantes beat Ironi Iscar Nahariya from Israel 92-83 to stay top of their group with a 5-1 record. Hopefully now he is back from his injury he will get some ACB time as well.

Dan's Estudiantes ACB team are on Eurosport2 playing away at Barcelona on Sunday

As for Ryan Richards, I presume him going to Gran Canaria might have something to do with the fact that Tim Lewis is coaching a team there- he can still play for England U16s this summer (born 91) so would expect him to do better then.

seems Tim Lewis is getting as much english talent as possible out there. Menelik Watson from the Magic is heading to Gran Canaria in August and a couple of players that went to Cherbourg with him have also been invited. This of course could just be more to do with Tims difficulty with the spanish language lol
