BT ROSETO BASKET TO LEAVE SERIE A

The Serie A league council reunited yesterday in Bologna and have decided not to allow BT Roseto Basket to participate in the 2006-07 season, due to financial problems. The team will now dissolve, and it's place in next Serie A will be taken by another team. The first having rights is relegated side, Air Avellino.

Hi! Italian Serie A is on hold after Roseto was sent off because of financial troubles. Ex-BBL stars? I know Tony Dorsey was playing in Italy but not in the top League. He was playing in Jesi, while Chris Pearson was playingin Rieti and also british passport holder Ezugwu played in Pavia...all of those clubs being second league clubs.

The talk of the country was about Andrea Bargnani getting drafted as number one men for the Raptors. Anyway Bargnani can't make it to the World championship in Japan for Italy. If you need any news, ask!

As for the coaches.. David Blatt (american with israeli passport) will be coaching Benetton Treviso next year too. He refused to go back to Maccabi Tel Aviv when they offered him the coaching position. Fortitudo Bologna (know as Climamio) has a new owner, Michele Martinelli. The guy announced a lower budget for next year, so the last year coach the croat Jasmin Repesa could be off, he is interested in both Roma and Real Madrid benches. Svetislav Pesic who was coaching Roma last year is now back in Spain. While the other team competing in the Euroleague, Carpisa Napoli, after losing Lynn Greer to NBA and Stefanson to Spain just announced the comeback of his coach Piero Bucchi.

Benetton Treviso signed american Spencer Nelson from Bamberg, he should fill the spot of number 3 (small forward) and so the chances of Nick George to make it to the Serie A of Treviso are very slim.
Franco Ciani is the news head coach in Livorno. Newly promoted Montegranaro wants to re-sign Misan Nikagbatse, the german guy son of a nigerian and a finnish. He already played in Serie A and was with Montegranaro also last year in Lega2. Ansu Sesay, a french player, has been disqulified for three months for use of Marijuana and so he will be able to go back to Napoli the team he was playing with when got disqualified. Italian national team is still preparing for the World Championship in Japan at the end of august, right now they moved to Athens Greece to play in the very famous Acropolis Tournament.

Daniel Kickert, Australian guy with dutch passport, signed for Livorno. He comes right from the Australia World championship team. Previously he played for St.Mary's University (Ncaa). HE could play both the power and small forw<rd position. Tdshop.it Livorno also signed John Whorton (I read he used to play for the London Towers as well as New Zealand and Turkey).

After 4 games, only two teamd remain unbeaten..surprisingly one of the is Vidivici Virtus Bologna and the other is MontePaschi Mens Sana Siena. Defending champions Benetton Treviso are struggling, they changed a few players (Bargnani is now playing in the NBA) and the coach (David Blatt) had to delay his arrival to the team because he coached the russian national team. Benetton is now 2-2.On sundy there's a big event in Bologna, as the two city teams meet at noon...big head-to-head.

He's surelly getting more playing time in Imola than in Euroleague contestant Treviso. He was considered to be a mere phisically players with no basketball attitude to compete at the top flight. Those were the words of David Blatt, Treviso american coach.

Nick has only played 2 games for Imola, who are third from bottom of Lega2

After a 2-point debut he got 16 against Montecatini, who feature in their roster ex-BBL star HL Coleman

Imola lost to Montecatini, ane they played with just one american. Imola is known as one of the loweste budget team in Lega2. They feature former Caserta and Panathinaikos star Ferdinando Gentile as a first year coach and has his son as a bench player.

Mike Bernard is not getting much playing time. He used to play for a couple of teams before getting that job. He's not working down the boards as he should, despite he may have some good days..

The right spell of the team is Siviglia Wear Teramo (Siviglia is a sponsor name).

Yes, Nana Mensah-Bonsu (that's how it is reported on the wb site) is still playing for Treviso. They are 16th on the standings (out of 18 teams) and changed theyr coach during the stretch. They went from Italian Alessandro Ramagli to turkisk Mahmuthi.. they also cut an american. They went through the first stage of Uleb Cup.

Mensah-Bonsu is averaging 25 minutes a game in the league with 9.8 points and 8.7 rebounds.

Treviso did not play in the Italy Cup final eight played in Bologna, Avellino defeated Virtus Bologna in the final to claim the National Cup, the game was played in Bologna last sunday.

Two Teams were ejected from the league, dropping the total number of teams from 18 to 16. The two teams are Napoli and Capo d'Orlando (a Uleb cup team).
Yesterday MPS Siena (the league champion) crushed by 35 point Air Avellino (cup holder) in teh supercup.
The season should start next week, but the start was postponed due to the fact that the two teams ejected sued the league and today the verdict will be released.
